Richard Geres Son Shines After Euphoria Scene

says he feels his 26-year-old son Homer has what it takes to make it in the rough and tumble world of show business.

The A-list actor, 76, spoke with People about Homer's rising profile, marked by a viral appearance on Max's in which he appeared opposite .

'I'm proud of him on two levels,' said Gere, known for films such as Pretty Woman, American Gigolo and An Officer and a Gentleman. 'One, he's really good. He really kind of preternaturally knows what he's doing.

'But he's also handling it really well. He's a good kid.'

Gere described his son, who he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell, as 'a really good young man who kind of gets it.'

Speaking about , Gere said that acting 'is not an easy job' and 'not everyone can function within it,' adding, 'I think he can stay.'

Gere, who's currently promoting his role on The Agency, highlighted a number of his son's growing list of credits.
