Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have once again claimed the coveted title as Sydney’s number one breakfast show overall in the latest GfK Radio Ratings.

KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O Show notched up their 46th consecutive survey as the top FM Breakfast show, while the station finished first place overall in Sydney.

According to the ratings, The Kyle & Jackie O Show achieved a share of 13.7 per cent on KIIS 1065 and attracted a weekly cume audience of 735,000 listeners in Sydney.

But the show is still struggling to break the Melbourne market, holding just 5.2 per cent share while attracting 420,000 listeners each week in the Victorian capital.

Meanwhile, KIIS 1065 and WSFM placed first and second respectively in Sydney overall, knocking 2GB off from its reign.

2GB is now sitting at 10.2 per cent market share behind KIIS at 10.8 per cent, while WSFM sits at 10.7 per cent, and smoothfm at 10.3 per cent.

2GB Breakfast, hosted by Ben Fordham, also suffered a significant drop to 12.2 per cent behind The Kyle & Jackie O Show.

In Melbourne, 3AW continues to dominate the at 14.9 per cent overall while Smoothfm is second at 11 per cent, followed by Gold at 10 per cent, while Nova dropped a massive 1.2 per cent down to a 7.4 per cent market share overall.

However, Nova’s Jase and Lauren breakfast show is still massively ahead of Kyle and Jackie O in Melbourne with a 9.6 per cent market share.

But Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick were no match for the Sydney-based duo in the radio rivalry, coming in as the number one FM Breakfast show at 10 per cent.

Despite the drop in Melbourne, Kyle and Jackie O’s Australian Radio Network (ARN) bosses are still pleased with the results and ‘remain confident’ in their strategy

‘Congratulations to our teams at KIIS 1065 and WSFM for securing the top two spots as Sydney’s leading stations,’ ARN Chief Content Officer Duncan Campbell said in a statement.

‘A special shout-out to Jonesy & Amanda for their exceptional performance, and to Kyle and Jackie O for reclaiming the crown as Sydney’s #1 Breakfast Show overall.’

‘In Melbourne, we’ve always recognised that building success in a new market takes time,’ he continued.

‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show is Australia’s most successful radio show, attracting more than 1.5 million listeners each week, and has dominated Sydney with 46 consecutive surveys at #1 FM. We remain confident in our long-term growth strategy.’

Daily Mail Australia also contacted Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson in request for comment.

On April 29, Kyle and Jackie O took their breakfast radio show to Melbourne in a huge multimillion-dollar expansion deal.

The move triggered the axing of Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips’ breakfast show.

An unapologetic Kyle said he felt indifferent to his competitors being sacked, as it ultimately came down to who was attracting the most listeners.

‘No, I don’t care. That’s why we went for Melbourne, we were like, ‘We’ve given this Jase and Lauren on KIIS FM a good run, it can’t get over fourth in the radio ratings, so we’ll take it’,’ he told news.com.au at the time.

He added that the The Kyle and Jackie O Show was moved to Melbourne because it was a ‘market in trouble’ and their program could help regain listeners.

However, Kyle’s co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson took a different approach, adding that while she didn’t like competitors being axed it was the unfortunate reality of the business.

‘No one ever wants to move someone out of a job. I wouldn’t want that to happen to me. It’s a double edged sword, it really is,’ she said.
