He’s the radio titan known for his flair and direct approach.

But on Tuesday, Kyle Sandilands stormed out of his hit breakfast radio show after an argument with his co-host Jackie O Henderson.

Kyle, 52, left the studios in a rage after clashing with Jackie O, 48, while discussing the increasing cases of coronavirus live on air.

The argument sparked after Kyle revealed NSW Premier Chris Minns had cancelled his appearance in the studio after testing positive to Covid-19.

Jackie O informed Kyle rules around isolating had changed because the virus ‘is just like the flu’.

Kyle then told Jackie O she would probably still isolate if she had the virus as she had been extremely cautious in the past.

‘I’m allowed to change my opinion,’ a frustrated Jackie O said.

An unimpressed Kyle then stormed out of the studio just 11 minutes after the show had began.

‘Well that escalated quickly,’ Jackie O said.

Executive producer Pedro Vitola then confirmed Kyle had left the studio and gone home.

Jackie continued: ‘What’s happening today? I’m telling you this full moon, it messes with people.’

It’s unclear whether Jackie also went home as the show has since been broadcasting repeats of old segments.

The bizarre incident comes less than one week after the Sydney-based radio duo signed a record-breaking $200million, 10-year deal live on-air.

This means the duo will dominate markets outside their Sydney-based audience and extend their reach into Melbourne for the first time.

A spokesperson for ARN confirmed to Daily Mail Australia the deal means Kyle and Jackie’s KIIS FM work pals Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips will be out of a job and their Melbourne breakfast show will be finishing up in December.

Lauren broke down in tears while announcing the news to her listeners on Wednesday, sobbing that she didn’t want to ‘say goodbye to Melbourne’.

Jase and Lauren’s show was successful for KIIS FM, bringing in new listeners for the station and sitting third in the Melbourne market behind Fox FM’s Fifi Fev & Nick and GOLD104.3’s Christian O’Connell.

In a statement to celebrate the historic contract renewal, Sandilands said: ‘Fans of the show will be stoked to hear this 10-year deal is the longest radio deal in Australian history.’

‘Love us or loathe us, Jackie and I will be continuing with our politically incorrect nonsense for a long, long time.’

He added, ‘We want to thank the listeners. Staff. All the clients. Even senior management, I’ll give a nod to. They actually did something brilliant.’
