Prominent Names Overlooked at the 2024 SAG Awards: Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, and Zac Efron among the Snubbed, with May December Also Ignored

Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, and Zac Efron were three of the biggest names snubbed as the Screen Actors Guild 2024 award nominations were announced on Wednesday.

In addition the controversial film May December – which stars Portman, Julianne Moore, and Chalres Melton – was also completely ignored.

The SAG-AFTRA National Honors and Tributes Committee are who nominates and votes for the recipients of these awards.

DiCaprio starred in Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon and despite it being critically-acclaimed his performance did not seem like enough to wow his peers into earning him a nomination.

Meanwhile, though Portman’s performance in the Todd Haynes film – which is built around a Mary Kay Letourneau-esque scandal – was praised she was also unable to secure a nod.

The Scren Actors Guild did heap praise on Oppenheimer, Barbie and American Fiction.

The nominees for the guild’s top award, best ensemble are: American Fiction, Barbie, The Color Purple, Killers of the Flower Moon and Oppenheimer.

Most notably left out of that group was Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, which on Sunday won best comedy/musical at the Golden Globes.

The film’s star, Emma Stone, was nominated for best actress while Willem Dafoe (but not Mark Ruffalo) was nominated for best supporting male actor.
