KIIS FM’s Melbourne breakfast show Jase and Lauren has been axed with its final show to be broadcast later this year, to make way for The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Presenters Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips made the shock announcement on Wednesday, revealing they were informed via a phone call the night before.
Lauren grew emotional during the announcement, and at one point wept.
‘Sad news we want to share with you. Last night we received a phone call from management informing us the show will be finishing up at the end of the year,’ Jase began.
‘Kyle and Jackie O will be taking over next year, they will be syndicating the show from Sydney to be broadcast in Melbourne.’

Jase and Lauren, 41, then became emotional as they reminisced about all the amazing experiences they had shared during their two and a half years on the air.
‘We wouldn’t have it any other way. We were put together during lockdown when we couldn’t spend any time getting to know each other and this has just been the most glorious friendship,’ a tearful Lauren began.
‘We didn’t want this. We said good bye to both your mum and dad in those two years, we said hello to your baby archie, said goodbye to the queen. We have celebrated and had broken limbs and heads.’
‘We’re a little dysfunctional family. And we’re still on air until the end of next week, so we will still be rocking up. I wish Kyle and Jackie O good luck, they are extremely lucky to inherit the people that listen to this show,’ an emotional Jase added.

It comes amid news Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have confirmed their historic new radio deal will see them expand to Melbourne.
On Tuesday morning, the radio duo signed a record-breaking $200million, 10-year deal live on-air and revealed they will expand their reach southward and keep the duo on-air until 2034.
A spokesperson for ARN confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that means that Kyle and Jackie’s KIIS FM work pals Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips will be out of a job and their Melbourne breakfast show will be finishing up in December.

‘Sad news we want to share with you. Last night we received a phone call from management informing us the show will be finishing up at the end of the year,’ Jase began
In a statement, Sandilands said, ‘Fans of the show will be stoked to hear that this 10-year deal is the longest radio deal in Australian history.’
‘Love us or loathe us, Jackie and I will be continuing with our politically incorrect nonsense for a long, long time.’
This will mean the duo will dominate markets outside their Sydney-based audience and extend their reach into Melbourne for the first time.
One unique clause in the contract gives Sandilands the ability to broadcast the show from ‘anywhere on the earth’.
