Lawrence ‘Moonman’ Mooney made a shocking drug confession during an interview on The Little Dum Dum Club podcast.
The radio star, 57, admitted during the most recent episode of the podcast to smoking methamphetamines with friends in a hotel room at the Fringe World musical festival in Perth.
Mooney said he saw an old friend at the festival, who invited him back to his room to smoke the illicit drug.
‘So I had heard much talk of this drug ice, and during Fringe World, I ran into an old colleague and he said it’s good,’ he said.
‘He goes, “Do you want to smoke meth in a hotel room with us?” And I thought, “Ah f**k, you know, I’m sure once will be ok”.’
‘I have seen the ice addicts and I have no intention of digging holes in my face or losing my teeth. And I’m sure they all say that at the beginning.’
Mooney said he was ‘curious’ as he had been ‘invited many times’ before.
‘So we went and rolled the bowl and that was exciting, watching the bowl filled with smoke and they’re like “don’t breathe in too hard”. They were all coaching me.’
‘Then I sucked it in and everyone was like “oh, what’s it like?” I went, ah “it’s f**king nothing” but seven hours later, we had a lot of conversations about nothing.’
He said he eventually decided to leave after ‘the people I was with…had got past smoking and offered a clean syringe.’
‘I went, you know what, I’m gonna go and stare at the wall in my room for a while.’

His exit from came two weeks after he suddenly vanished from the airwaves amid rumours of a major falling out with co-host Eva, who starred in the 2018 season of The Block.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia on the day of his sacking, Mooney said, ‘Please don’t call again,’ then hung up the phone.
Mooney sued Southern Cross Austereo two months later, demanding his former employer pay him more than $1million in unpaid wages for a breach of contract, according to a statement of claim seen by Daily Mail Australia.
The court heard in February 2022 that Mooney had feared South Cross would ‘smear’ him with unfounded allegations when it sought to justify his sudden termination.
In April 2022, sources confirmed to Daily Mail Australia the matter had been resolved in a confidential settlement.
