Paula Abdul has canceled her upcoming Straight Up! To Canada Tour as she prepares to undergo a ‘minor procedure’ that will require weeks of recovery.
She made the shock announcement via social media on Wednesday, revealing that she recently suffered several undisclosed ‘injuries.’
After only achieving ‘temporary relief’ with less invasive methods, Abdul’s doctors have now recommended that she address the ailments surgically.
The 21-date tour was scheduled to begin on September 25 in Victoria, British Columbia and wrap on October 26 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
‘It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained,’ the former American Idol judge began.

‘In an effort to keep going, I’ve received targeted injections that will allow me to (sic) temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story.
‘After multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options, I’ve been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time, therefore it will prohibit me from proceeding with the Straight Up! To Canada Tour as well as the dates in Alaska and North Dakota,’ she continued.
Abdul went on to apologize to fans and promised she would resume touring once she is healed.
‘I want to extend my deepest apologies to all my amazing fans in Canada and the US, you mean the world to me and this truly breaks my heart,’ she wrote.
‘I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together.
‘I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.’
She then informed ticket-holders that all ‘refunds will be available at your point of purchase.
‘Thank you for your love, your patience, and your understanding during this time. With all my love and gratitude,’ Abdul concluded.
Abdul’s Canadian fans were ecstatic in June when she announced she’d be heading out on a 21-date tour in the country.

She recently served as opening act for New Kids on the Block’s The Magic Summer 2024 Tour in North America.
She joined the beloved 90s boy band — featuring Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Joey McIntyre — for a whopping 42 concerts with DJ Jazzy Jeff.
The tour marked NKOTB’s first in a decade and was in support of their eighth studio album, Still Kids, which they released in May.
Abdul first hit the stage as opener on June 18 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and her final date was on August 25 in Noblesville, Indiana.
She looked incredible as she belted out hits from her own illustrious career, treating fans to her smash songs such as Rush Rush and Opposites Attract.
Abdul was joined by a skilled dance troupe as she showed off her killer moves in a skimpy black leotard and fishnet tights.
Since bursting onto the music scene in the 1980s, has released three studio albums: Forever Your Girl (1988), Spellbound (1991), and Head Over Heels (1995).
Forever Your Girl made history as the first debut album to spawn four number-one singles on the Billboard 100 chart.
Spellbound got her two more number-ones: Rush Rush and The Promise Of A New Day, tying Paula with Diana Ross for the most number-ones from a solo female artist.
Paula is best-known to younger audiences as a judge on American Idol, a role she was in for over two decades.
She has also been a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Masked Singer.
However, Paula got her start as a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers and she soon became the squad’s head choreographer.
From there, she progressed to choreographing music videos for Janet Jackson, The Pointer Sisters, and Duran Duran and choregraphing tours for The Jacksons, George Michael, and Kool & The Gang in the 1980s.
A real triple threat, Paula also has an extensive filmography, appearing in Can’t Buy Me Love, Robots, and A Sister’s Secret.
