A gorgeous rural retreat which was once the home of celebrated Australian author Paul Jennings has hit the market with a price guide of $1.1million – $1.2million.

Located in Warrnambool on the Victorian coastline 276km west of Melbourne, the classic two-storey cottage features five bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Jennings, 80, lived in the sprawling home when he wrote some of the stories that later became the basis for the fan favourite children’s TV series Round the Twist.

The bestselling writer heavily renovated the home while working and living there between 1992-2001 reports the Herald Sun.

Built in the Victorian era, the cosy charmer boasts many of its original period features, including 13-foot (4m) ceilings, French doors, ceiling roses, lead lighting and sandstone mantled fireplaces.
