Opinions are divided on Chris Brown’s new renovation show Dream Home, with some viewers comparing it to a revamped version of House Rules.

Dr Chris Brown’s new series debuted on Sunday night.

Dream Home, a reality renovation show, sees the popular television vet return to the airwaves amid his two million dollar contract with Channel Seven.

While Chris’ natural charm was on full display in show’s first episode, many viewers couldn’t help but find the premise quite familiar.

Several watching at home noted that Dream House bears more than a passing resemblance to a similar show, House Rules, which aired on Channel Seven for eight seasons from 2013.

‘Dream Home is basically an upgraded version of House Rules… with a better looking host’ one person wrote on X.

Another agreed: ‘Dream Home = rebranded House Rules’ with someone else chiming in, ‘Exactly my thoughts. Is there any difference?’

Others pointed out that there was ‘no drama’ in the new show.

‘What! Divvying up the rooms with no drama? How long will that last? Fingers crossed’ said another new fan.

Some were less than impressed by the renovations, with one posting, ‘Why would those girls think a teenage BOY would want an ornate ceiling!?’

It comes amid news that Seven has already renewed Dream Home for a second season

Based on a successful New Zealand format, the reality show will see six couples attempt to convert each other’s houses room-by-room.

Renovator Lana Taylor, buyer’s agent Simon Cohen and interior designer Rosie Morley join Chris as judges for the debut series.

Producers of the show announced the contestants will be battling out for a $100,000 cash prize.

The contestants have their work cut out for them.

The homes include dilapidated weatherboard suburban pads and overcrowded and old brick dwellings with outdated features and pokey backyards.

The renovation series is Brown’s return to prime time after his shock exit from I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! last year.

Brown made the shift after he signed a two-year contract with Seven worth more than $1million a year.
