The pair embraced each other and when Olly composed himself, Amelia, 33, said: 'Happy birthday! You're doing so amazing babe.'

Struggling to get his words out and filled with emotion, he replied: 'I didn't expect you to be here.'

Mark added: 'Amelia, it's safe to say when I asked you earlier, if he knows you're here, it's safe to say... he didn't.

'You can just see the pure surprise and pure shock.'

Olly then asked his wife: 'Where are the kids?!' and Amelia confirmed to him that they weren't with her.

'You're pushing your body, you're mentally tired, you're just thinking of your family, think of your kids. I have been thinking of Amelia all week, and my children.

The pair tied the knot in 2023 after they started dating in 2019.

Mark pointed out that his 42nd birthday would probably be the hardest yet because of the challenge, but This Morning then showed him a sweet montage of famous faces sending him their birthday wishes.

The likes of Westlife, Dermot O'Leary, Josie Gibson, Jamie Laing, Sophie Habboo, Amanda Holden appeared in the video.

It was also revealed that Olly has raised £511,947.50 so far.

His emotions got the better of him as he crossed the finish line in Northamptonshire shortly before midnight on May 13.

The star, whose efforts have resulted in him needing a toenail removed, was overwhelmed after fans gathered in the darkness to sing happy birthday as he completed his third day.

'I put a brave face on it today. I felt like I needed to really,' he said. 'I needed to kind of hit it, I needed to kind of tackle it full on and there were times that I was really struggling but, you know, all the people that have come along today, I really appreciate it. It means a lot.

'I feel bad I didn’t get a chance to see everyone and thank them personally but it really means a lot. I’m putting my body out there on the line and the donations really help so thank you.'

With his route for day one revealed live on Heart Radio, Murs needed a toenail removed before he set off on foot from the wild heathland of Cannock Chase.

He then tackled the biggest ride of the challenge – over 100km through the centre of Lichfield, along an ancient Roman road and via a tough climb through Nuneaton.

Olly is tackling some of the UK’s toughest terrain as he runs, rows and rides his way from Manchester’s Old Trafford stadium, where Soccer Aid first kicked-off 20 years ago, to London Stadium, home of this year’s landmark match

Just past Warwickshire town Rugby, Murs ran in the dark to Nether Heyford to a crowd of supporters singing him an early ‘happy birthday’ in what was his latest finish.

The day was full of torrential rain and even an unexpected reroute to avoid a local fire but fellow Heart presenter, Emma Bunton, shared a good luck message to spur him on.

'I just want you to know how much I flipping respect you,' he said. 'I mean that from the bottom of my soul. I know what it’s like to put yourself – at 41 – in a position where you’ve had knee operations and you’re doing it all, I am in awe.'

He fought back tears on Monday's episode of This Morning as he reflected on an 'emotional' visit to families displaced by the Ukraine war.

The show played out footage from Olly's visit to last month, which highlighted the amazing work that UNICEF have been doing over there for families in need.

After being shown the clip, Jake Quickenden said: 'You're getting a bit teary. How does that make you feel because it's for an amazing cause? You're a dad yourself.'

Olly replied: 'It makes me feel really emotional, actually. It makes me feel more determined to come out and raise as much as I can.

Olly's challenge will be made into a one-off ITV documentary called Olly Murs: Steps Into The Unknown - set to air on May 29 at 9:00pm.
