When it comes to TV news music themes, it seems  viewers like the old hits better than the new.

account Simply Nostalgia took to social media this week to share a throwback clip from a Seven News bulletin highlighting fuel prices from 16 years ago.

The clip, taken from a 2010 bulletin, showed a fuel watch segment, providing a stark contrast to the current fuel crisis gripping the country.

It showed unleaded was sitting at an average of 123.9c per litre – a far cry from recent soaring prices.

However, commenters seemed more concerned with the music playing over the fuel watch report, with many saying it brought back huge feelings of nostalgia.

'The music [is] giving me heavy throwbacks to my nan and pop's house, bro. Can even taste the toast they made… that's insane,' one person commented.

Another chimed in with a similar: 'This sound is nostalgic.'

One commenter added the tune conjured up vivid images of childhood.

'The music OMG. Takes me back to when I was very very young eating dinner in front of the TV with channel 7 on,' they reminisced.

It didn't end there, either, with one commenter adding that the tune was a certified banger.

'The news theme song had NO place slapping this damn hard tho,' they wrote.

Yet another summed up the sentiment of many with: 'Gives me goosebumps, bro. The music.'

The track in question is The Mission by legendary Star Wars composer John Williams.

It was originally written for NBC News in the US back in 1985.
