Michelle Keegan left rain battered Britain far behind on Sunday, opting instead for the rather more favourable climate on offer in Sydney.

While long-suffering Brits endured another weekend of temperamental weather, the popular actress was basking in twenty degree heat on picturesque Bondi Beach.

Keegan, 36, is currently enjoying an extended stay on Australia’s east coast with husband Mark Wright while filming the second series of BBC drama Ten Pound Poms.

The actress will reprise her role as Kate Thorne in the hit show, which follows a group of Britons as they strike out for for a better life in mid-1950s Australia, only to discover that all is not what it seems.

But Keegan appeared to be taking a well-earned break over the Easter weekend, and she made the most of her time off by visiting Sydney’s most populated beach and the accompanying Bondi Icebergs – an outdoor pool built into the area’s curving coastline.

The actress looked relaxed as she showed off her tan in a pair of cut-off denim shorts and a lemon yellow crop top as dutiful Wright did the honours and snapped his wife gazing out at Bondi’s teeming beach.

She later traded her Daisy Dukes for a pair of loose-fitting jeans as she struck a playful pose outside Bondi restaurant Totti’s, a venue famed for its Italian cuisine.

The British star also shared photos of an extravagant seafood lunch as the couple tucked into caviar and fresh oysters during their bank holiday Sunday.

Captioning her latest Instagram posts, she wrote: ‘If only every weekend was a bank holiday weekend.’

Ten Pound Poms follows nurse Thorne and Roberts family members Terry and Annie as they struggle to adapt to life as immigrants in Australia.

The first series – produced by Eleven and co-produced by Stan and the BBC – was loved by fans, prompting the immediate development of series two.

A synopsis for the forthcoming series reads: ‘After a challenging first year in Australia, the new series will follow nurse Kate Thorne (Michelle Keegan) and the Roberts family (led by Faye Marsay and Warren Brown) into 1957 on their adventure down under, as they are determined to make this new country everything they hoped it would be for a fresh start.

‘Will Kate, Terry and Annie finally get a slice of the Australian dream they were promised?’

In series two new characters the Skinner family from Ireland and the unscrupulous land-lord Benny Bates will be introduced to viewers.

After the second series was confirmed, show writer, creator and executive producer Danny Brocklehurst said: ‘The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight.

‘We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip.

‘I couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming again with the BBC, Stan and Eleven to continue our characters’ adventure down under.’
