He is currently staying in the UK capital with his wife Sarah Jessica Parker, 58, who he married in 1997, while they both star in their play Plaza Suite at the Savoy Theatre.
The American performers made their debuts as Karen and Sam in the romantic comedy on last month.

Plaza Suite is the West End revival of Neil Simon’s play of the same name which debuted on Broadway in New York City in 1968.
They were originally announced to star in the play back in September 2019, though the opening night was delayed nearly two years due to COVID-19.
The play is set in suite 719 of New York’s Plaza Hotel, with the production’s website stating: ‘A delightfully witty exploration of love and marriage, Plaza Suite had New York City audiences enchanted with its charm and its starry cast….
‘Now, from January 2024, London’s West End gets the chance to witness two world-class performers and Hollywood icons transform into three unique couples, each finding themselves entangled in hilariously outlandish situations within the walls of the legendary Plaza Suite hotel room.’
It comes after Matthew and the son he shares with Sarah, James, was seen with his father in a new portrait shared to Instagram on Monday.
The 21-year-old college student is the same height as his veteran actor dad, which was made clear as they posed side-by-side while outdoors on a lush green lawn.
Also pictured was Sarah as she leaned on her spouse. It is very rare for James to post images of his family.
In addition to James, Matthew and Sarah share 14-year-old twin girls Marion and Tabitha, but they were not seen in the new images.

The actress – who is on the series And Just Like That… – wore a long white trench coat over a stylish dark blue dress, glittering underneath the bright lights of the red carpet.
She accessorised with several thick pearl necklaces, and she walked in bright white high heels.
Her husband kept it simple in a blue, plaid blazer over a black turtleneck.
They stood next to their three children who were all dressed up for the big night out.
James, who attends Brown University, wore a suave black suit and while Marion and Tabitha wore stylish dresses underneath cozy coats.

The power couple, who have been married for almost 30 years, mostly kept their children out of the spotlight but occasionally bring them along to red carpet events now they are older.
In November, Parker said she is too busy to think about combatting the ageing process.
The actress admitted she has no idea what standard practice is when it comes to looking younger and is ‘confused’ as to why it is such a topic of interest for women.
She told Hello magazine: ‘I don’t know what else you’re supposed to do! I’m so confused as to why this is such an interesting topic for so many people.
‘ I’m confounded by the fact that men my age are never asked this question. I don’t ponder it, except when I’m asked about it.
‘We wake up and we’ve got a million things going on – you’ve just got to get on with your day.
‘You can do all sorts of things that can make you feel better, but I just think, am I going to do something radical and everyone is going to be like: ‘She looks weird now??’
The Sex and the City star went on to add that as a performer, she uses her face to communicate with the audience.

And while she believes others can do what they want when it comes to combatting age, it is not a ‘focus’ of her life.
‘I’m an actor, so I’m meant to be communicating emotion with my face,’ said Parker.
‘It’s not in condemnation of anyone else doing what they want; it’s just not for me.
‘People should do what they want to do. But the ageing process isn’t a focus of my life.’
