The actress, 35, spoke to Amanda, 54, on Heart Radio to promote her latest film Wuthering Heights which is released in cinemas on Friday.
During the interview, Amanda brought along a pair of shoe-shaped bottles so the pair could have 'shoeys' - when someone drinks out of a shoe as a party piece. It is popular in Australia as a celebratory ritual.
Amanda said: 'I've got you a little present only because it's nearly lunchtime so I feel this is legal. As an Australian, I know you like shoeys.'
'I literally just told someone what a shoey is,' Margot replied.
Amanda then revealed the shoe-shaped bottles, one with beer, which she gave to Margot, and one with gin, which she drank herself.

'This is actual beer. You can either go for a real one or a non-alcoholic one,' she said.
'I mean, obviously the real one. This is a very elegant shoey. Usually you do it out of some mangy old sneaker,' Margot said.
'Cheers darling,' Amanda said as they both enjoyed their drinks.
Speaking about Wuthering Heights, Margot said the film has gone down well with her friends.

'My friends who've seen it twice, they want to see it again. I've got a friend flying over for the London premiere because she wants to see it again,' she said.
She also praised the film's director Emerald Fennell and the 'tone' she set during the production.
'Emerald is our leader who is always encouraging you to bare your soul. I never felt like I was going too far with my performance. I knew she'd protect me in the edit. I just had to give it my everything,' she said.
It comes after Margot revealed that early in her career, an unnamed actor gave her a book that she thought essentially told her to 'eat less.'

'Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called Why French Women Don't Get Fat,' the 35-year-old Australian actress recalled when she was asked about the worst gift she had ever received.
'It was essentially a book telling you to eat less,' Robbie continued in reference to the book, which was written by Mireille Guiliano and published in 2007.
