Maren Morris shocked and delighted many of her fans when she came out as bisexual on Sunday.
But after her bombshell announcement — which follows years of LGBTQ advocacy — she retreated to the comfort of family for a sweet trip to the zoo with her four-year-old son Hayes.
The 34-year-old singer, who shares her son with her ex-husband Ryan Hurd, posted photos and a cute video of herself and Hayes getting to feed some majestic giraffes from the safety of a fenced-off area.
She posted a clip of herself nervously feeding one of the long-necked creatures a lettuce heart while her son joined in next to her.
Maren was dressed in a loose-fitting green ribbed sweater and a matching set of pants for the zoo trip, along with chunky black slide sandals.

Hayes was by her side in a white graphic T-shirt, green striped shorts and a brown, white and black trucker hat.
One photo showed her crouched down on the ground so that she was as tall as her son, but the giraffes were still able to reach the lettuce in her hand thanks to their long necks.
She followed it up with a fun video showing her nervously feeding some of the lettuce to one of the giraffe, which was soundtracked to the Circle Of Life theme from The Lion King.
The country singer flinched whenever the giraffe’s dark tongue darted out of its mouth to grasp the lettuce, but after the initial shock she turned around to grab more lettuce.
Another photo showed Maren picking up Hayes so that he could get a close view of the gorgeous giraffe.
Maren shares Hayes with her ex-husband Ryan Hurd, whom she announced she was divorcing in October 2023.
The former lovebirds met in 2013 when they both worked as co-writers on Tim McGraw’s song Last Turn Home.
She finalized her divorce four months ago, and the agreement requires her to pay Hurd $2,100 per month in child support payments.
Maren Morris publicly came out of as bisexual on Sunday, in honor of LGBTQAI Pride month, after performing a concert in Phoenix, AZ.
The 34-year-old Grammy winner – who boasts 3.9M social media followers – captioned her Instagram announcement: ‘Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+, happy pride!’
Maren received supportive comments from her current opening act Allison Ponthier as well as fellow songstresses Kate Yeager, Lindsay Ell, Marielle Kraft, and Heather Mae.

Morris is known to be very affectionate with her gal pals, including an April 23rd snap of her kissing photographer Sonya Jasinski with their arms wrapped around each other.
The 42 singer also straddled her BFF-turned-co-author Karina Argow in a triumphant April 17th snap after they became certified New York Times bestsellers for their children’s book, Addie Ant Goes On an Adventure.
Maren has been an outspoken ally for the LGBTQAI community since 2022, partnering with GLAAD and served guest judging duties on the five-time Emmy-winning reality competition RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2023.
Last year, Morris proudly performed at the Love Rising benefit held in Nashville which protested Tennessee legislation aimed at cross-dressing performers, trans youth, and same-sex marriage.
The Texan-born millennial even brought her four-year-old son Hayes Andrew Hurd to the ‘completely family-friendly’ drag show where she declared onstage the Bridgestone Arena: ‘Yes, I introduced my son to some drag queens today, so Tennessee, f***ing arrest me.’
‘Ok this “save the children” plea always seems to distract from what we’re actually talking about,’ Maren Instastoried a month later following backlash.
‘If you’re making the “exposure to children” argument, there are a lot of gowns in Catholicism, makeup and powdered wigs in theatre historically worn by only men, Mrs. Doubtfire that charmed our childhoods… the list goes endlessly on.
‘Drag is centuries-long performance art and some drag is only for adults. The performance I referenced in this interview was a charity all-ages show to protest the unlawful drag ban in Tennessee that was rightfully overturned.’
Morris’ announcement came four months after she finalized her divorce from country crooner Ryan Hurd, whom she pays $2,100 in child support each month.
The Tree singer and the 37-year-old Grammy nominee – who had a prenup – separated on October 2 after five years of marriage, and they originally met in 2013 co-writing Tim McGraw’s 2014 track Last Turn Home.
Maren – who gets 11.3M monthly listeners on Spotify – is next scheduled to bring her 40-date tour to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO this Tuesday.

Although Maren came out as bisexual over the weekend, she has been a champion for the LGBTQ community in recent years.
Last year, during an appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race as a guest judge, she apologized to the contestants for the way that country music had treated LGBTQ people in the past.
In 2022, Maren publicly feuded with fellow country singer Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany after she made comments many judged to be transphobic.
After the right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson labeled the hitmaker a ‘lunatic’ and a ‘fake country music singer,’ she began selling T-shirts poking fun at Carlson and the insults.
