MAFS Bride Reveals Co-Stars Disturbing Shopping Incident

Married At First Sight bride Bec Zacharia has revealed a disturbing off-camera incident .

The 35-year-old bride claimed a fellow bride was left in tears after being verbally abused by a stranger while simply shopping for groceries.

In a raw and emotional video obtained by Daily Mail, Bec explained that she had just received a frantic phone call from a fellow castmate who had been confronted inside a supermarket over her appearance on the current season of the show.

'I have just had a phone call from one of my fellow MAFS castmates in floods of tears,' Bec said in the clip.

'She was walking through a supermarket and someone felt that it was acceptable to walk up to her and swear at her because of what they've seen on an episode of MAFS.'

Bec went on to stress the vulnerability of her co-star, describing her as a woman simply trying to live her life away from the cameras.

'She's a single female just trying to walk through a supermarket and yet people think that it's OK to do that,' she said.

Visibly shaken, Bec also addressed the torrent of online abuse she claims the cast has been subjected to since the show began airing.

'I can't open up any social media platform without seeing utter abuse,' she continued.

'You've seen all of us on TV for minutes and it's actually insane to me. I knew that this would happen, but how can my fellow castmate not feel safe enough to walk into her local supermarket to buy some f**king fruit and veg without being abused?'

The bride said the incident highlighted how blurred the line between reality TV and real life has become, urging viewers to remember the human cost behind the edited episodes.

'It's insane to me. It costs nothing to be kind,' she said. 'You're seeing an edited reality TV show. It's not acceptable. The hate is insane.'

Bec added that she hoped her message would reach viewers and force some to reflect on their behaviour.

'I hope that this reaches people and it's sent across and sent out to everyone because we're just human beings,' she said.

'We're human beings that believe in love and yet she doesn't feel safe enough to walk into her own supermarket now. Like what is that?'

She ended her impassioned plea with a blunt call-out to trolls and critics.

'Enough of the hate, man,' Bec said.

'You've watched fucking 15 minutes of hours and hours and hours of footage. It's mind-blowing to me. I just did not think the hate would be this intense and this awful. The fact that someone's walked up to her is just unacceptable. It's unacceptable. Like f**king do better people.'

In a statement previously provided to Daily Mail, Nine addressed concerns around participant wellbeing and social media abuse, stressing that extensive support measures are in place for the cast.

'Nine and Endemol Shine take their obligations in respect to the health and wellbeing of the participants of this program extremely seriously,' the statement read.

'All participants have access to the show psychologist and welfare resources during filming, during broadcast and once the program has ended. 

Nine also has an additional service for participants should they like or need further individual and confidential psychological support.

This service gives participants access to clinicians to support those involved in the program in relation to their experiences. This service is available to all participants for as long as they need it, and it does not end.'

The network also confirmed it has taken control of contestants' social media accounts this season in response to the volume of online backlash.
