Off camera, she wasn't ready to let go.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail, the bride has revealed she never actually made it back to Melbourne - despite telling cast and crew she was leaving.

'I did lie. I said I was going home to Melbourne,' she admitted.

'I had a flight booked, I went through security… but then I waited for production to leave, walked back out, got my bags and stayed in Sydney.'

Her reasoning was simple - she believed Scott would reach out.

'I was hoping he would call me or text me and say, "Come back",' she said.

But the message never came.

In the days that followed, Gia says she repeatedly tried to contact Scott - but was met with silence.

'She kept saying she just wanted a phone call,' the insider tells Daily Mail.

'She was like, "If you're so mad, why didn't you say anything to me? You talk to everyone else but not me".'

According to the source, Gia felt blindsided by how abruptly things ended.

'She thought it didn't look right that he wouldn't even call her - like he'd just cut her off completely,' they said.

Determined to get answers, Gia made a bold decision - to return to One Global Resorts, where the show is filmed, in a last-ditch attempt to see Scott face to face.

'I showed up with a little mission,' she said.

'I still had the key card to get into the rooms.'

With the help of fellow bride Bec, Gia attempted to slip into the apartment unnoticed.

'I had Bec kind of hold the house APs so they wouldn't see me,' she explained.

Looking back, Gia says her decision to leave the experiment was driven by the pressure of the experience - not her feelings for Scott

'Production said if I wanted to speak to him, I'd have to come back for the dinner party,' she said.

For Gia, it wasn't about rekindling the relationship - but about closure.

'I wasn't asking to get back together,' she insisted.

'I just wanted a real moment with him that wasn't on camera.'

'I wasn't running away from Scott,' she said. 'I was running away from the experiment.'

Still, she admits she hoped there was a chance to repair things.

'I wanted to apologise… to give it one more chance,' she said.

But by the time they finally came face to face again, it was already too late.

'He'd made his mind up,' Gia said.
