Madonna, 67, Sparks Divide with New Song Tease

Madonna teased her first song from her Confessions II album on Friday.

Also on Friday, her manager hinted she would be performing at in the evening. 

The 67-year-old singer divided fans with her up-tempo tune I Feel So Free, which was produced by Stuart Price.

Some fans on X found her dance song 'uplifting, catchy,' while others said it was 'trying too hard.'

One fan wrote on : 'It sounds so f***ing good! So sensual, mysterious but dancy at the same time, it's classic Madonna for you! Now I have high hopes all over again.'

Another was less enthusiastic: 'I think she is wearing grills for sure but it makes her sound more vulnerable. it's giving drunk girl at the club.'

The lyrics read like they are from the 1990s. 'C'mon, meet me on the dance floor,' she croons. 'C'mere, baby / I can give you much more tonight / Oh, baby, let's do it right.'

Then she gets more personal: 'It's really hard for me to trust people / Can you blame me? Safety in numbers ... It's dangerous with just one person / That's not a nice feeling. But out here, on a dance floor, I feel so free.' 

Also on Friday manager Guy Oseary hinted she will appear at Coachella in the evening to debut the tune featuring Coachella headliner Sabrina Carpenter.

He wrote on Instagram, '20 years ago 👑 @madonna played Coachella 2006. Major pop artists back then did not play Coachella. It was mostly alternative artists Until…. 👑 @madonna !! I called my friend Paul Tollet founder of Coachella with the idea.. and with the idea to play the Sahara Dance Tent instead of the main stage. Paul said yes. And the rest is history. I mean Herstory.'

He ended with, 'Confessions On A Dance Floor -2006 Confessions On A Dance Floor PART II -2026.'

In one shot, the diva from parted her legs as she wore a turquoise leotard and a silver jacket. In the second photo there was a veil over her head as she modeled a lace leotard with fishnet stockings and high heels. 

The singer was announcing the release date of her eagerly anticipated new album Confessions ll: The new collection of songs will come out on July 3 from Warner Records. 

The new album is the continuation of the iconic counterpart Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Ahead of the lead single, Madonna unveiled the first hint of her tunes with a visual teaser.

Madonna summed up her new record best by quoting the first few lines of her song, One Step Away: ' People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.'

Madonna added, 'When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto.'

She then shared the manifesto: 'We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. 

'These are things that we've been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect.'

She then mentioned a 'trance like state.'

Fans can pre-order the album and the ultimate curation of expansive vinyl, CDs and cassette offerings.

She is said to have reached out to the Princess of Pop, 44, in December and January in hopes of writing together and getting a studio session in.

If executed, it would land 23 years after the blonde pop acts kissed on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and had a hit single, Me Against The Music.

Sources have claimed Madonna believes Spears could bring something incredible to her new album, however the latter has so far refused to engage. 

An insider told The Sun: 'Madonna believes Britney is not just a brilliant artist, but a lovely person.

'They had a great time in the past working together and had touched on working together again.'

Madonna's new album will be her first since 2019's Madame X.

Earlier this year she got fans excited as she revealed she was readying the new project in an Instagram post.

'My Valentine's Day gift to all my fans is to let you know I'm putting my heart and soul into my new music and I can't wait to share it with you!' she wrote in February.

Then she joked, 'Confessions Part 2. Just nobody tell Usher!' while including photos from a studio session set to her song Future Lovers.
