Long-running feud between Dave Hughes and Kyle Sandilands explodes AGAIN as they confront each other live on air

Dave Hughes has confronted Kyle Sandilands live on air as the pair’s decades-long feud fired up again this week.

Last week, the comedian said he had ‘no empathy’ for Kyle following the KIIS FM star’s shock brain aneurysm diagnosis.

Not wanting to see a resumption in the conflict, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson invited Dave on to The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday to clear the air.

‘I don’t want another feud. Let’s calm the waters,’ Jackie said to her co-host.

‘I don’t want two people I like to be at war with each other.’

Before bringing Hughesy into the chat, Jackie took listeners through the timeline of conflict between the pair.

The first salvo was fired way back in 2007 when Dave called Kyle a ‘massive d***head’ while on stage at the Logies. 

Jackie then mentioned an interview Kyle gave to Andrew Denton on Enough Rope that same year.

In the chat, Sandilands said of Hughes: ‘I could murder him and feel completely at ease with the world.’

‘You also said that you had a desire to punch Dave in the throat,’ she added.

Jackie then brought up an alleged Twitter war that erupted in 2009,  a war that Sandilands said he had no part in.

‘That can’t be true because I have never been on Facebook, Twitter, X, Instagram,’ he protested.

‘I’ve never posted ever anything in my life, nor have I got into a Twitter war. That’s totally not true. I’ve never tweeted ever. Anyone ever, for anything.’

Jackie then made the shock confession that it was, in fact, she posing as her co-host firing barbs at Hughes.

I’ve got the biggest confession to make to you,’ she sheepishly said. 

‘I feel it’s necessary for this to be, you know, a thing where you guys make peace. Because back in 2009, I remember that everyone was attacking you, and I was getting so frustrated at how many people were attacking you. 

‘I went on Twitter, and I started trolling the people who were attacking you. And I wrote these things.’

When Hughes joined the chat, he said he couldn’t believe it was Jackie behind the great Twitter war of 2007.

‘The Twitter thing I do remember very well, and that went all night,’ he said. ‘That was a long session. I can’t believe it was Jackie,’ he said.

I’ve got to rethink my whole impression of you, Jackie. I had no idea. And we worked together on The Masked Singer. I had no idea you were harbouring that secret.’

Jackie’s shock confession appeared to have Dave and Kyle on the same page – but only for a moment.  

‘It wasn’t Jackie’s feeling that were being hurt. It was me and Kyle’s feelings that were being hurt on that. That was unbelievable,’ Dave said.

Then it was time to address the most recent flare-up of conflict surrounding Kyle’s brain aneurysm diagnosis. 

Jackie told Dave his recent comments about Kyle seemed ‘out of character’.

Dave said he wasn’t even referring to Kyle’s diagnosis when making the comment. 

‘This is s fake news. It’s misinformation,’ he said. 

‘With that  article, I wasn’t asked about Kyle’s health. Look, I just got out of the  [I’m A Celebrity] jungle. 

‘I had no idea who’s who was in good or bad health. So, I hadn’t heard about your brain aneurysm, Kyle. The question was the ratings in different cities and like, you know, is there empathy about you guys in Melbourne? And that was the question I was asked.’

Kyle said that when reading the harsh words he wasn’t sure that they were even said by the funnyman.

‘That’s why I didn’t reply, because I thought, “S***, is this even Hughesy?”

‘And I was at home with my head all bandaged up and my eye bleeding and worried about dying and voting for you on the jungle. And I just felt so sad.’

Dave added it was actually his wife Holly that clued him in to Kyle’s diagnosis.

‘We had an exchange of text messages, and she said, “You know, he’s got a problem with his brain, don’t you?” I said, “no. I had no idea about your brain health,’ he said.

‘Obviously, I would not go in hard. Health is everything. We know that all this, all this rubbish we do on the radio is noise. Your health is the most important thing. So, I hope your brain is okay. 

Dave’s words appeared to placate Kyle who offered a: ‘Thanks you, mate,’ in response.

It appears that the two combatants have laid down their arms… for now.
