It was the romance that gripped the world as fell in love with the wild Australian singer of a top rock band. 

But the former has always kept the secrets of her relationship with the late INXS frontman under wraps.

Now The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Kylie is to divulge the full story in an intimate documentary on later this year.

The former Neighbours star dated the singer between 1989 and 1991, and he then went on to date supermodel Helena Christiansen before he met while appearing on ’s The Big Breakfast.

A source close to the documentary said: ‘Everyone at Netflix is so super excited about this show. Kylie is going to speak like she never has before. She is to tell the full story about hers and Michael’s relationship. 

‘It was a huge deal at the time and it took Kylie’s image from a wholesome bubbly soap star to something much more trendy and rocky. 

'She adored Michael but it was all very troubled. He was troubled and now she will lift the lid to tell her tale to share some bombshell material.’ 

Minogue, now 57, met Hutchence at an INXS concert after her then-boyfriend, Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan, got tickets for the gig.

She was just 21 at the time. Several months later, when Kylie and Jason split, she started dating Hutchence. 

While they were both Australian stars, she was the classic ‘girl next door’ while he was the bad boy rocker. 

They were first publicly seen together on the red carpet for her 1989 film The Delinquents, where she sported a sexy new pixie hair style.

Kylie spoke briefly about him in 2019, saying: ‘Sex, love, food, drugs, music, travel, books, you name it, he wanted to experience it. 

'As his partner, I got to experience a lot of that as well. If you’re a sensual being, all of your senses need stimulation. He definitely awakened my desire for things in my world.’

The couple split in 1991 when Kylie flew from Japan to New York to dump him. But they remained close friends until his death by suicide at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Sydney in 1997 when he was 37.

He was found hanged after taking a cocktail of drugs and alcohol. He was also naked and had left a distressed voicemail for his manager earlier that morning.

Three years later his partner Paula Yates died of a drugs overdose at her London home aged 41. Their daughter, Tiger Lily, was just four years old.

Kylie, who played Charlene on Neighbours, will also open up in the documentary about her breast cancer battle in 2004.

A source close to the project said: ‘It’s Kylie’s first, big tell-all project. It is going to be compulsive viewing.’

The show will be directed by Emmy-winning Michael Harte and produced by Ventureland.

It recently delivered the WHAM! documentary, as well as both David and Victoria Beckham’s shows for Netflix.
