has the fight of his life ahead of him, lawyers claim.

The radio king was felled on Wednesday when his $100 million contract was terminated by ARN and The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM cancelled.

The 54-year-old faces an 'expensive' battle, workplace lawyer Mia Pantechis, of Maurice Blackburn Lawyers, told NewsWire.

'This contract dispute will be high stakes and expensive, with a sharp focus on whether Sandilands engaged in misconduct and whether the terms of the contract permitted ARN to lawfully terminate the contract in the circumstances,' Pantechis said.

'In making a claim for what is being reported as a substantial damages sum, Sandilands is likely to argue that ARN repudiated the contract.'

It won't be easy to prove his claims, Pantechis insisted.

'Much will turn on whether the contract itself contained terms which acknowledged certain on-air behaviour and authorised it to occur,' she said.

A source told news.com.au on Wednesday that Kyle is 'optimistic' about his chances in court.

'He is very optimistic about how it is going to play out, but he is a little bit insulted. He felt like he helped build the station up, and it is definitely a tough one,' the source said.

'His angle is that the contract is valid, and if Kyle were to pop up somewhere else, that would give ARN the chance to say, "You guys recognise the agreement is over",' they added.

'Kyle does not feel complete without being on-air.'

ARN announced last month that Henderson's $100 million contract had been terminated after she told executives she 'cannot continue to ' following his harsh on–air comments that left her in tears.

They also provided written notice to Sandilands stating it considers his behaviour during the show on February 20 to be 'an act of serious misconduct which is in breach of ARN's service agreement with Quasar Media'.

Sandilands was given a 14-day suspension during which he was required to 'remedy the breach.'

He also confirmed the matter will now be in the hands of his lawyers.

'ARN has just announced that they've terminated my contract,' he said.

'I don't accept it. My lawyers told them last week this would be invalid. And guess what? It is.'

Sandilands continued: 'Let me tell you what actually happened here. Jackie and I had a blue on air. That's it. The kind of thing we've done a hundred times in 25 years.

'And ARN took the situation and decided to try and burn the place down.'

Continuing, Sandilands doubled down on a previous claim that he had been 'muzzled' by the network.

'They sacked Jackie. They suspended me. They wouldn't even let me pick up the phone to call her or anyone else on the show,' he said.

'Then – and this is the bit that gets me – once they'd made it impossible for the show to go on, they turn around and say, "You didn't fix it. You're fired!"'
