Kyle Sandilands delivers scathing reply when questioned about his radio rivals Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips being axed

Kyle Sandilands has issued a brutal response upon being asked if he felt bad about several of his competitor’s shows being axed to make way for his top-rating program.

The KIIS FM radio king’s top rating The Kyle and Jackie O Show recently premiered in Melbourne, which saw Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips’ breakfast show get shafted as a result.

However, on Saturday an unapologetic Kyle, 52, said he felt indifferent to his competitors getting axed, as it ultimately came down to who was attracting the most listeners.

‘No, I don’t care. That’s why we went for Melbourne, we were like, “we’ve given this Jase and Lauren on KIIS FM a good run, it can’t get over fourth in the radio ratings, so we’ll take it”‘ he told news.com.au.

He added that The Kyle and Jackie O Show was moved to Melbourne because there was a ‘market in trouble’ and it was thought their program could help regain listeners.

However, Kyle’s co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, 49, took a different approach, adding while she didn’t like competitors getting axed it was unfortunately the reality of the business.

‘No one ever wants to move someone out of a job. I wouldn’t want that to happen to me. It’s a double edged sword, it really is,’ she said.

On April 29, Kyle and Jackie O took their breakfast radio to Melbourne in a huge multimillion dollar expansion deal.

But the KIIS FM hosting duo revealed they have no plans of stopping there as they shared their hopes for national domination all around Australia.

Radio shock jock Kyle insisted a national rollout will have to be considered if the Kyle And Jackie O Show soars to success in Melbourne.

He told news.com.au: ‘I really think if we do real well in Melbourne, let’s say it’s half as successful as Sydney, then they’re just gonna have to roll it all out (nationally).’

However, he insisted they will only move in on new locations if ‘there is a market in trouble’ as he hinted at the reason for the Melbourne expansion.

Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips were pushed out of the ARN-owned network in November to make way for Kyle and Jackie’s Sydney breakfast show and they have since moved to Nova.

Kyle said the performance of local ARN breakfast shows will be considered before any replacements, with Jackie insisting they won’t want to ‘move’ people out of jobs.

Amid their big radio plans, Kyle and Jackie are also looking to expand into television as they show no signs of slowing down.
