Kiwi Models Wedding Gown Draws Curtain Criticism

And plus-size model Riley Hemson has once again sparked online debate - this time with her wedding dress. 

The influencer, 30, who tied the knot with fiancé Vita Tomoana over the weekend, wore a dramatic princess-style gown with a low-cut corset that revealed a generous glimpse of cleavage. 

Riley's dress, designed by celebrity couturier Lillian Khallouf, has become quite the talking point online, with fans sharply split over its fit, construction and styling.

Much of the criticism has focussed on the bodice and shaping. 

'Why would you want your boobs to look like this?' one user questioned, while another asked: 'Why would you intentionally want a mini third boob on the side? It's just a terrible cut for her shape.'

Others questioned the execution more broadly, with one comment reading: 'That's what I'm confused about... it's so bad that it almost seems intentional because how did nobody pick up on it?'

'I use to grab old curtains pretending it was a wedding dress. Guess I'm not the only one,' another joked.  

Some also pointed to fit and sizing as a possible issue rather than design alone, with one user writing: 'I honestly think it's a result of people trying to either wear something that simply doesn't suit their body shape, or refusing to wear the correct size.' 

'I've tried dresses on that I've really wanted to wear but don't, when it does this kinda thing. It sucks but that's life,' they continued. 

There was also criticism of the overall styling consensus forming online, with one commenter saying: 'Everyone hyped up her dress to the point they've now convinced themselves they like it, and it's awful.' 

Another added: 'She looks beautiful but the top of the dress isn't it.'

Styling details also drew attention, particularly the contrast between dress and veil. 'It's her veil being so much whiter than her dress for me,' one comment noted.

Several users also questioned how Riley's wedding landed in Vogue magazine, which published exclusive photos of the event online and featured an interview with the bride this week. 

'Pardon my ignorance, I live under a rock. Who are these people and why the hype all the way to Vogue?' wrote one user. 

'How on earth is she a Vogue bride? This is not what I expect from our fashion bible,' another added, as someone else agreed: 'Sorry, this wedding shouldn't be in Vogue'. 

However, not all reactions were negative, as several users defended Riley's gown and her overall bridal look. 

'She looks beautiful, even though I'm not a fan of the dress,' one wrote, while another said: 'I think she's stunning in her pics I love her dress.'

Others were more enthusiastic, with comments including: 'She looks amazing. It's a timeless hairstyle… and the dress was insanely beautiful,' and 'She looks stunning in her pics I love her dress.'

'A Vogue princess!' yet another user wrote, while someone else added: 'Absolutely gorgeous. The prettiest dress I have ever seen!' 

Riley and Vita got engaged in 2022, with the pair recently throwing a combined hens and bucks party in Thailand in March. 

The happy couple got in some quality time with their closest friends, enjoying a day out on a luxury yacht and dinners overlooking the water.
