Gene Simmons was spotted grocery shopping alone in Malibu on Thursday.
The KISS bassist had on a very casual look as he ventured out without the standard teased hair and heavy makeup that he uses on stage.
But there appeared to be something off about his hair.
In one frame it appeared as if the 75-year-old had on a black wig and it had slipped back to reveal his natural short stubble.
On Reddit fans have commented on how his hair often doesn’t look right: ‘Looks like a tent sitting on top of his head. And jet black looks terrible. Wouldn’t hurt to have some highlights in it. With his money, you would think he could get something that looks more realistic.’
Then there was: ‘Why did he pick that wig?’
The marks around his hairline could also have been stains from hair dye and not stubble. Or he may have just been having a bad hair day as he pulled his raven locks back into a low ponytail.

The Detroit Rock City singer had several brown paper shopping bags and bright pink Gerbera daisies.
The sighting comes after the Love Gun singer’s feud with Carlos Santana resurfaced.
The feud started in 2009 when Simmons threw shade at the Smooth rocker, 77, after Santana said KISS weren’t musicians.
‘He’s not a musician, he’s an entertainer. Kiss is Las Vegas entertainment, so he wouldn’t know what music is anyway. That’s why he wears all that stuff,’ Santana said.
‘A musician doesn’t need the mask and the mascara so there’s a difference between an entertainer and a musician,’ Santana added via Far Out magazine,
Gene responded during an interview with Las Vegas’ Fox channel KVVU, ‘It’s time for us to go out and show the little boys how the big boys do it.’
‘I’m sick and tired of these bands like Carlos Santana looking at his shoes and thinking that’s a rock concert,’ Simmons declared. ‘Get off the stage.’
KISS made a name for themselves with their makeup clad faces, elaborate costumes and energetic performances.
Santana, on the other hand, has a soulful style that mixes rock, blues, and jazz with a Latin flair.
Simmons’ ire with Santana goes back even earlier with Gene taking issue at the ease with which Santana performs despite a rough start to his career similar to KISS’ early days.
‘The early years of Kiss were far from glamorous.’ Gene Simmons explained. ‘We rode in a station wagon hundreds of miles every day.

‘We would take turns driving and sleeping in the back. We ate burgers at roadside taverns. We stopped and peed on the side of long stretches of a highway when we couldn’t find a town anywhere near.
‘We ate beans and franks because we couldn’t afford better food as we were on an $85 a week salary.’
Simmons recently debuted The Ultimate Gene Simmons Experience, where one lucky fan has the opportunity to be his assistant while he’s on tour for the sum of more than $12,000.
He told the New York Post, ‘When I was a kid and went to see shows, I was always curious, “What’s it like when they’re in a hotel?”
‘”What’s it like when the stage is set up? What’s it like being onstage when they’re performing and seeing the audience from the stage?”‘
‘I decided, You know what, nobody’s ever done it. Why not open the idea to be my personal roadie for the day?’
Simmons considers it an honor for the most dedicated fan in the KISS Army and thinks it is worth what it cost.
The more than $12,000 price tag will nicely pad the rocker’s reported $400 million net worth.

After forking over the check, the lucky fan will then be his ‘Personal Assistant & Band Roadie’ for a show date on his upcoming tour with his Gene Simmons Band.
The fan package is listed on his band’s official website: ‘You will meet up with Gene and GS band members early in the day (either at his hotel or designated location) to go over the Band’s Show day schedule.’
In the description of the fan package, the posting read: ‘You will find that Gene Simmons is very down-to-earth, funny, and knowledgeable on almost any subject.’
The special fan selected to be his roadie will receive a crew member shirt, hat, VIP laminate and signed set list for the personal assistant job, per the band’s official website.
They will also have a meal with Simmons, help the band set up for the show and hang out backstage.
The special fan can bring along one guest and take photos throughout the entire experience.
Simmons will also invite his personal assistant for the day on the stage during the show and gift them a rehearsal-used, signed bass guitar.
