’s widow Kimberly paid tribute to her late husband by reposting the beloved Dawson’s Creek theme song - prompting its iconic singer Paula Cole to respond with a heartfelt tribute of her own.
The 48-year-old Dawson’s Creek star , leaving behind Kimberly and their six children - Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, nine, Gwendolyn, seven, and Jeremiah, four.
On Thursday, Kimberly reshared an acoustic rendition of the show’s beloved theme song I Don’t Want to Wait - originally recorded by Cole - performed by country singer Alana Springsteen.
In her caption, Springsteen wrote that the loss ‘hit me hard’, adding that much of her ‘girlhood was lived to the backdrop of his work’. She also directed followers to a GoFundMe organised by friends to support Van Der Beek’s family.
Cole, 57, responded in the comments with an emotional message of her own.
‘So beautiful. Tears and more tears. Thank you for honoring James and his family.'
