‘I remember thinking, ‘Please, Lord, don’t let them be getting a divorce’. I never had an inkling that it would happen, but I knew that was what they were going to tell us. I felt it.’
Discussing how it influenced her own marriage split she went on: ‘I did think about how my parents handled it with us’.
‘I just remember them being open…Ultimately, what matters is that kids feel loved and heard. You want to be sensitive because they’re just kids, and it’s hard to go through no matter what age’.
Adding: ‘You have to make sure that you only go to a level that they can understand. It’s okay to show a vulnerable side. You never go to a negative side.’
Kanye and Kim began dating in 2012. The pair tied the knot in 2014 and share four children together: daughters North, 10, and Chicago, five, and sons Psalm, four and Saint, seven.
Kim filed for divorce from the rapper in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences and initially agreeing to joint custody prior to a breakdown in 2022 that saw the former couple clash over their children.
As well as turning to a child psychologist for help and parenting advice she also reveled to the publication how she relies on her Christian faith to deal with difficult times.
Saying how she and her children pray every night before admitting: ‘I’m probably more religious than most people guess’.
