' ex-husband  has now broken his silence after the pop icon was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told TMZ his client 'hopes' Spears will be receptive to receiving help - if that is what's found to be in her best interest.

'Kevin hopes for the best for Britney and if help is necessary, he hopes that she will neither resist it or those who are attempting to work with her,' Kaplan told the outlet.

Kaplan and Federline, 47, have been in communication since Spears, 44, was arrested but are unaware of any other details about the legal drama

Yet Federline does have his fears: 'The concern is whether this is just a one off or a one more,' Kaplan said.

Spears and Federline were married in 2004 after three months of dating, and they divorced in 2007.

Kevin Federline says he wants the 'best' for his ex-wife Britney Spears as he broke his silence on her DUI arrest

Last year Federline detailed what allegedly occurred during and after their relationship with a tell-all, You Thought You Knew - a book that was slammed by Spears as having 'white lies.'

Spears was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol on Wednesday, following a tense highway pursuit captured in a chilling 911 dispatch recording.

She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

The singer had reportedly fired her sobriety coach just weeks earlier, while police were also called to her home a staggering 14 times over the past two years.

During their marriage, they welcomed two children together - sons Sean Preston and Jayden James

Jason Alexander, Spears’s first husband, who was famously married to her for only 55 hours before their 2004 annulment, also broke his silence on Thursday with a lengthy Instagram message.

'Everyone needs to slow down with the headlines about Britney Spears. If reports are accurate that she blew a .06, that is below the legal limit in most states. If the only substances in her system were legally prescribed medications, that changes the narrative completely,' he wrote.

'At most, what is being discussed right now could potentially amount to minor misdemeanor charges- things like reckless driving or simple possession if a substance was found in the car. But the internet has already jumped straight to “drunk driving,” “rehab,” and all kinds of speculation that hasn’t been proven.'

'Britney Spears deserves the same thing anyone else does: facts, fairness, and due process -not headlines built on speculation.'

In a release from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that was obtained by the Daily Mail, police said the pop star was subjected to multiple field sobriety tests before she was taken into custody.

According to CHP, Spears was arrested on 'suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs.'

Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari has also weighed in on the arrest

However, they said that chemical tests to further determine any substances that she may have been using are still pending.

According to police, they began pursuing Spears after a call came in at around 8:48 p.m. PT to CHP's Ventura Communications Center to report a black BMW 430i that was allegedly driving erratically at high speeds on the southbound side of US-101 near Newbury Park, California.

CHP officers from around Moorpark were able to find Spears's vehicle and initiated a stop, at which point she exited the highway and pulled over to the shoulder.

Police confirmed that the singer was the only person in the vehicle when her car was stopped.

They added that Spears allegedly appeared to be impaired, so she was put through a variety of field sobriety tests.

As a result of her performance, police say they arrested Spears for violating 'California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.'

Spears was then booked into the Ventura County Main Jail around 3 a.m. on Thursday morning, before she was released around 6 a.m.

Police emphasized that their investigation into Spears is still ongoing, and they are waiting on the results of chemical tests to come in.
