The singer and songwriter has been promoting her latest tune by appearing at different gas stations and convenience stores.

Joy Ride is the artist’s first song since settling her nearly decade long legal battle  with former producer Dr. Luke and leaving his label.

The pair reached a settlement last summer on a series of lawsuits and counter-suits launched in 2014, when Kesha, born Kesha Rose Sebert, accused Dr. Luke, 50, born Łukasz Sebastian Gottwald, of drugging and raping her and causing psychological abuse during their previous nine-year relationship.

The singer went five years without releasing any music during the standoff, but eventually returned to the studio to release Rainbow in 2017 and 2023’s Gag Order, although she worked with other producers on those albums.

A-list entertainers including Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and Pink were some of the artists who were questioned by attorneys in depositions over the years.

In her deposition, unsealed in 2019, the Bad Romance singer said she ‘made my view of him and his reputation when I saw’ Kesha in a back room of the studio wearing nothing but underwear, and at that time, Kesha ‘told me he assaulted her.’

Clarkson and Pink have both said after their interactions with him, the producer ‘is not a good person.’

Katy Perry, who denied she was raped by Dr. Luke in her unsealed deposition, and said she felt ‘pressured’ to support Kesha.

The singer also said she felt the producer was using her as a ‘pawn’ in the legal battle.

Perry decided to work with Dr. Luke on her upcoming single, Woman’s World, which will be released July 11. News of that move has caused huge backlash among some of Perry’s fans.
