With just one day left until her new memoir Thicker Than Water debuts, Kerry Washington was hitting the subway in New York City to promote it.

The 46-year-old actress took to Instagram on Monday evening, sharing a new video of her handing out copies of her book to fans and taking selfies with them.

Judging from the exit signs in the subway station, it seems Washington was at the 5 Avenue/53rd Street Station in Manhattan which serves the E and F lines.

‘Gave the F train some reading material,’ Washington said in the caption along with an open book emoji.

#ThickerThanWater comes out TOMORROW! Preorder now!’ she concluded in the post, which received nearly 12K likes just one hour after posting it to her 7.3 million Instagram followers.

The video – set to The King Khan and BBQ Show’s Love You So – showed Washington in a sleeveless frilly white dress walking through the F train station and handing out books to fans.

She was seen taking selfies as well, both on the train itself and in the station, a day before the book will be released.

The actress and writer started her book tour over the weekend with an appearance at Kip Bays Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx.

She will continue the tour on Tuesday with a Q&A at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in Manhattan with a conversation with Vanity Fair’s Radhika Jones.

Washington will then head to Washington D.C. on Wednesday, Chicago on Thursday, Dallas on Friday, Atlanta on Saturday and Los Angeles on Sunday.

The writer will take a few weeks off from the tour in October before heading to London on Saturday, October 20, Manchester on Sunday, October 21, a virtual event on Tuesday, October 24 and the final stop Sunday, November 12 in Miami.

She’ll have a number of special guests along the way as well, with her Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn joining her in D.C., Tyler Perry in Atlanta and Reese Witherspoon for the virtual event.

The book description reveals that Washington was on a drive in Los Angeles on a ‘seemingly average afternoon’ when she got a text message ‘that would send her on a life-changing journey.’

She revealed in the memoir that she had an abortion for an unplanned pregnancy in her early 20s, not long after landing the leading role in Spike Lee’s 2004 film She Hate Me.

‘I struggled a lot in the beginning with whether or not to include my abortion story … But I started to feel like it was really important for me to share this,’ she said.

‘This story had so much to do with my understanding of myself and the world as my career unfolded,’ she said.

‘It’s just so important to me that abortion is not a bad word, and that my abortion is not another thing on the list of things that I’m ashamed of,’ she added.
