Kelly Rizzo recently opened up about how she’s coping after her husband Bob Saget passed away suddenly in January 2022.
The 44-year-old actress — who has been dating actor Breckin Meyer — took to her TikTok to reveal that she has ‘taken for granted’ the fact that she didn’t have to go through the grieving process with children involved.
‘I don’t have kids. I don’t want kids. I don’t think that’s a secret. But I just wanted to say how much I’ve taken for granted having to go through the grief process that I went through and not having children,’ Kelly began in the candid clip.
‘It’s hard enough just having to take care of yourself and it kind of hit what that would be like to actually have children, especially young children,’ she continued. ‘That not only do you have to take care of yourself, which is the hardest thing to do because all you want to do is curl up in a ball, but now you also have to take care of your kids.’
Kelly added that because her three ‘beautiful and amazing’ stepdaughters — Aubrey, 36, Lara, 33, and Jennifer Saget, 30 — were older and adults at the time of Bob’s death, the four of them were able to take care of each other.

‘But it just blows my mind to see parents who have lost a spouse, but then they have to take care of their kids,’ she said.
‘And I have some very dear friends who have been through that and I just want to say, god bless you all because to have gone through this journey and not just have to worry about yourself but to make sure that your kids are okay too is just a whole different level and very under-appreciated I would say, especially for myself because I only had to worry about myself.’
She concluded: ‘So now I’m just saying to all the parents that have had to do this, I see you and I don’t know how you do it.’
The heartfelt TikTok comes a few weeks after Kelly pushed back against critics saying she started dating too soon after losing Bob, who died at the age of 65 in Orlando, after falling down in his hotel and suffering a head trauma.
‘I’ll start by saying, unless you are a widow or a widower, you truly have absolutely no place and no right to comment on this because you do not know what it’s like,’ she said on TikTok.
The travel host revealed it took her over a year after The Full House star’s passing to feel ready to date again. She didn’t start seeing others until 18 months after her husband’s death, relying on support to take that next step.
‘In my situation, it was Bob’s daughters, Bob’s friends,’ she explained. ‘They were saying, “It’s OK.” So I’m like, “OK, it must be OK.”‘
Bob shared his three daughters, Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer, with his former wife, screenwriter Sherri Kramer.
Kelly and Bob met in 2015 and tied the knot three years later.
‘Everyone goes through it differently, and it is very personal, and whether somebody moves on a month after or 10 years after, it does not diminish or takeaway from the love and the relationship that you had with your partner.’
In the same clip, Rizzo later opened up about her relationship with Breckin despite not mentioning him by name.
‘I was concerned about how I could move on and find someone who appreciates what I went through and understands that Bob is always going to be a part of my life,’ she explained.
‘I don’t have kids. I don’t want kids. I don’t think that’s a secret. But I just wanted to say how much I’ve taken for granted having to go through the grief process that I went through and not having children,’ Kelly said

‘I’m very fortunate that I was able to find someone who holds space for that and appreciates it and gets it and is strong enough and confident enough to know that Bob’s always going to be a part of my life’.
She said that her boyfriend ‘always asks questions about [Saget] and keeps him part of the conversation.
‘That means so much to me, because I knew I was going to have to find somebody who just got it.’
Kelly and Breckin debuted their romance at a Grammys party earlier this year.
