Katie Price defiantly showed off her new £1,200 Sphynx cat after PETA offered £5,000 to the bankrupt star – if she agreed to stop buying pets.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote an open letter to the former glamour model, 45, last week over concerns seven animals – five dogs, a horse and a chameleon – died in her care and reports her puppy Tank was given away.
Katie, who was declared bankrupt in 2019 with debts of £3.2m, took to Instagram to share a snap of the hairless cat on her laptop alongside the caption: ‘suppose to be work time’.
The television personality later told fans she was reading some magazines after giving up trying to work while the kitten sat on her laptop.
Katie first showed off the Sphynx last month after reports she had given away her German Shepherd puppy Tank, less than a year after getting him.

PETA wrote an open letter to the former glamour model, 45, over concerns seven animals have died in her care and reports her puppy Tank was given away
The mother-of-five reportedly decided to get rid of the puppy after ‘losing interest’ in him because she needed to ‘train’ him.
Friends claimed it is a recurring theme for Katie, who only recently gave another pet dog to a local tradesman.
A source told The Sun: ‘Katie only got Duke a few months ago but she gave him away to her electrician.
‘She loves getting puppies that look cute on Instagram but when they start to grow up and she has to train them she loses interest.’
PETA wrote the open letter with the £5,000 offer after seeing Katie had acquired the Sphynx kitten.
PETA Vice President Elisa Allen said: ‘Following the news that Katie Price has bought yet another animal – in the same month as giving away her young dog, Tank – PETA has offered the TV personality £5,000 in exchange for signing a legally binding agreement promising never to acquire another animal.
‘Over the years, things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under Price’s supervision – at least seven have died, while others have been sold or given away. Despite these issues and much public criticism, the former glamour model continues to obtain more animals, prompting PETA’s proposition.
‘The offer comes amid the former glamour model’s reported financial woes and upcoming bankruptcy court hearing.

‘While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned. Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.’
The reality star was declared bankrupt in 2019 with debts of £3.2m from her failed company Jordan Trading Ltd, which was set up to oversee her perfume and cosmetics line.
Katie had been due to explain to a judge details of her income from her TV work, including a Channel 4 show documenting the renovation of her £2m country home.
In response to the open letter, a representative of Katie’s told MailOnline: ‘Katie has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.
‘If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.
‘Isn’t it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?’

Leading animal charity PETA has previously slammed Katie after her seventh pet, her protection dog Blade (pictured), died in her care. The dog was struck by a care near her home
The animal charity previously slammed Katie after her seventh pet died in her care – saying she has ‘blood on her hands’.
The star has faced a slew of tragedies over the past six years, including the deaths of now five dogs, a horse and even her chameleon, Marvin.
The leading animal charity has made increasing calls for Katie to not have any more pets in her care after her protection dog Blade died in June last year.
It came seven months after another of Katie’s dogs, Sharon, was killed on the same road.
A petition for Katie to be banned from owning animals garnered 30,000 signatures.
Sharon was killed when she allegedly escaped and ran on to the road where she was hit by a car. She was picked up off the A24 by the driver and taken to Arun Vets in Pulborough, West Sussex, where her death was confirmed.
In 2020, Katie’s pet dog Rolo suffocated in her home, while her Alsatian Sparkle was mowed down in February of the same year, in shocking echoes of the death of her dog Queenie, who was killed in 2018.
In July 2020, Katie was criticised by animal rights activists after Rolo’s suffocation.
The French bulldog died after getting stuck in an electric armchair while the reality star was packing some bags in another room, reported The Mirror.
Rolo was given to her daughter Princess as a birthday present.
Katie later revealed her shock after she was illegally advised to give her late puppy Rolo cannabis oil before he ‘suffocated to death in an armchair’.
Katie told the publication she was unaware that it is illegal to give dogs the substance without a veterinary prescription, in accordance with the The Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
One of Katie’s horses was tragically hit by a car and killed in 2017 after escaping from a field.
In 2018 her dog Queenie was struck and killed by a delivery driver.
