Kath & Kim star Peter Rowsthorn has lost his beloved mother at age 96.
The veteran comedian, 62, made the heartbreaking announcement on social media on Saturday alongside a precious family photo.
He captioned it with some heartbreaking words: ‘RIP my beautiful mum. 08/03/2025.’
Many of Peter’s celebrity friends took to the comment section to offer kinds words of support.
‘Very sorry to hear this. Sending our best to you and the rest of the family,’ wrote Rove McManus.
‘Thoughts with you mate,’ added Dave Hughes before Peter Helliar added: ‘Love ya mate.’

Rowsthorn is the son of late multimillionaire businessman Peter Rowsthorn Sr, the former CEO of transport company Toll Group.
The Melbourne-born performer is the father of Triple J presenter Frankie Rowsthorn.
The actor played Brett Craig, the henpecked husband of Gina Riley’s Kim in the beloved Kath and Kim sitcom, throughout its run from 2002 to 2007.
He starred alongside Jane Turner, Gina Riley, Magda Szubanski and Glenn Robbins.
In 2018, he was quick to rule out any involvement in a potential Kath and Kim reboot.
‘It would be horrible,’ Peter told TV Week.
‘It would never be as good as the first one.’

Kath and Kim remains popular with viewers thanks to its availability on the streaming service Netflix.
Many Australian and international celebrities guest starred on the show.
This includes Shane Warne, Kylie Minogue and Michael Bublé.
The series was so popular it spawned a TV movie in 2005 called Da Kath and Kim Code and a grand finale theatrically released film in 2012 called Kath and Kimderella.
