The notable name being honored this Thursday was John Davis, producer of Hudson's new movie Song Song Blue, for which she is nominated for an Oscar.
Song Sung Blue stars Hudson, 46, and , 57, as married couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who started a Neil Diamond cover band in 1990s Milwaukee.
Last year the Daily Mail exclusively spoke to the late Mike Sardina's , Mike Jr, who was livid over the movie and denounced its leads as 'monsters' for neglecting to make any mention of him in the film or its promotions.
However the project received a warmer response from others, , whom Hudson characterized as 'so happy' with the film, via Deadline.
This Thursday, Hudson showered praise on the film's producer at his TCL Chinese Theatre ceremony, relying on a pair of eyeglasses to read her speech.

For the special occasion she wowed in a chic, one-shoulder olive green dress that fell to her ankles with a subtly flared hemline.
Her blonde locks were parted at the center and pulled into a long ponytail with voluminous waves.
The fashionista accessorized with bulbous gold earrings and rounded out the look with pointed-toe brown heels.
Hudson's bubbly personality came through in her tribute, which she began by stating: 'Such an honor to be here today to celebrate someone who's not only left an incredible mark on the industry, but who I personally adore so much.'

She continued, 'John, standing here at the TCL Chinese Theater for your hand and foot ceremony feels absolutely right. Because if there's anyone whose fingerprints are all over this generation of filmmaking, it's you.'
Hudson highlighted that what she loves about working with the filmmaker is his optimism, kindness, and dedication.
Near the end of her monologue, she shared, 'Your hands have built the stories that will live for generations and your footprints are permanently embedded in Hollywood history. And today, we get to make it official.'
Hudson previously worked with Davis on 2011's rom-com A Little Bit of Heaven.
