Kate Ferdinand Revamps Fitness and Cuts Drinking

has revealed she has been suffering with stress and anxiety while adapting to life in Dubai.

The former star, 34, has been open about struggling with relocating to the UAE after she moved with her husband Rio, his daughter Tia, 14, their son Cree, four, and two-year-old daughter Shae in August last year. 

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Kate shared with her followers how she was working towards getting out of 'fight or flight' mode and reducing her cortisol levels. 

Kate revealed she has decided to cut back on drinking and has switched up her exercise regime in a bid to reduce her stress. 

She wrote: 'Let's talk stress, high cortisol and the changes I'm making daily...

'I haven't been a big drinker for some time (though I think I made up for it in my younger years!) Mainly because I'm terrible at dealing with hangover and I tend to get quite bad anxiety the next day, so cutting back has been an easy change for me.'

Kate went to to say she has switched up her workout regime, ditching high intensity workouts for walking and Pilates. 

She told her followers: 'I love working out and it's a huge part of my life so for now I'm focusing on walking and lower-impact workouts.' 

The former reality star added she is taking her time with daily tasks, rather than getting swept up in rushing around after her children.  

Kate said: 'Until I stopped and really thought about it, I didn't realise I've been rushing every single task for as long as I remember - even simple things like washing my hair, I just thought it was part of having a busy life and home.'

The TV star added she has worked hard to get out of fight or flight mode to reduce her cortisol levels.

Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands that regulates metabolism, blood pressure, immune response, and the sleep-wake cycle. 

Chronic stress causes consistently high levels, leading to weight gain, fatigue, high blood pressure, and anxiety. 

Kate recently admitted she had been struggling with their move to  and broke down in tears as she admitted she's 'missing her family'.

She confessed while Dubai has been an 'amazing' place to live, she's 'struggled' with being apart from Rio's two eldest sons Lorenz, 19, and Tate, 17, who have stayed in the UK for their football careers.

Opening up about their decision to move in March's edition of Men’s Health UK, Rio said: 'I look at it like an adventure. My life has been governed by the fixture list while playing football and then, post-career, being a pundit.

'There aren't many opportunities in life where you get time to make a big change, have an adventure, step out of your comfort zone and explore something new. So this is it. This is what we wanted to do.'

Kate admitted to Women’s Health UK that she's very in touch with what works well for her mental health, declaring exercise and therapy helps if she is 'struggling'.
