Singer K. Michelle has opened up about the horrific side effects she suffered after getting a black market Brazilian butt lift.

The 44-year-old had 'illegal silicone injections' in her buttocks back in 2012 and has spent almost a decade undergoing various surgeries to remove the silicone and regain her health.

Michelle, who is currently starring on The , recently had another reconstructive surgery to remove infected tissue from her buttocks, which was caused by one of her prior corrective procedures.

Discussing the ordeal, the star admitted that her buttocks started leaking shortly before her performance at the 2024 Awards.

'I was standing there in a bathrobe. Everyone was blow-drying me down, just to get me on stage to sing,' she said.

Michelle then broke down crying and sobbed about how much she regrets ever going under the knife.

'I just hate that I did this to myself. It's the worst thing I ever did to myself and I've paid for it for years,' she cried.

Michelle also explained that her health woes have been caused specifically by the silicone in her body, which spread down to her legs several years after the initial 2012 procedure.

'The actual thing that has made me sick isn't the BBL. It's the injections I got involving silicone,' she said.

'The hardest thing for me was learning that no matter what I do and how many surgeries, I will never get that silicone out of my body. It will be forever in me.'

She added, 'I will never be fully healed.'

After getting silicone injected into her buttocks in 2012, Michelle then had fat transferred from her stomach to her rear and her hips, in addition to a breast augmentation and rhinoplasty.

'I wanted to look like a Coke bottle,' she previously confessed to People magazine.

Michelle admitted that she had the surgery done 'by a man in Atlanta' after hearing that her 'favorite rapper' had previously used his services.

'He wasn't a doctor. It was black market, it was these "hydrogel" injections – that's what they were being called,' she said.

Michelle has spent the last decade undergoing multiple surgeries to try and fix the damage that's been done to her body.

At one point, she became so ill that she needed two blood transfusions.

'It's the scariest thing in life, and I'm a tough girl. I had these lumps and I was very disfigured,' she said previously.

In 2022, Michelle documented her surgery journey in the Lifetime docuseries My Killer Body with K. Michelle.

She's now starring in the latest season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and is focused on transitioning her music career from R&B to country.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported a 90 percent increase in BBLs between 2015 and 2022, and a roster of celebrities, including Cardi B, Khloe Kardashian, and Iggy Azalea, are all rumored to have received butt-enhancing procedures.

Cardi B is another celebrity who has expressed regret over her black market BBL

One complication of BBLs is fat necrosis, which causes fatty tissue in the buttocks to die following surgery.

While BBLs have seen a meteoric rise in popularity, the procedure is considered one of the riskiest out there, with one in every 3,000 patients dying from complications.

And because many women go overseas to get a discounted procedure, follow-up visits with the doctor who performed it is minimal or, in most cases, nonexistent.

A BBL involves a surgeon harvesting fat from the hips, lower back, abdomen, thighs and other areas via liposuction. That fat is then injected into the buttocks.

When there isn't enough fat to transfer, some patients turn to artificial fillers and in some cases, silicone, which can be extremely dangerous.
