has announced former Gogglebox star Joe Baggs as host of its  new spin-off show which kicks off later this month. 

The TV personality, 28, will helm the new series, which will air on both Instagram and , covering all the backstage action from the competition's live shows.

Announcing the news Joe took to social media with a snap of him backstage at the iconic  talent show.

He said: 'Surprise! Come backstage at #BGT with me, I’m SO excited to be working with BGT as their new digital presenter!' 

'I’ll be backstage at the Live Shows every week meeting the acts, finding out what makes them tick & of course causing a little bit of chaos along the way. Cannot wait to get stuck in!!!'.

 Last week the show sparked a 'fix' row after an auditionee was revealed to be an established West End star.

Viewers watched singer Nic Vani receive a standing ovation from the judges and audience for his rendition of The Lion King’s Circle Of Life on Saturday night's show. 

Before he began to sing, the father-of-three told the panel: 'In my music career I've always been at the back so now it's time for me to be in the spotlight.'

And one viewer pointed out Nic was no amateur by any means. They wrote on X: 'Nic vani.. the guy who literally played simba in the lion king.. why are they letting people like this on #bgt??'

Nic has starred in the The Book Of Mormon and The Lion King on the West End and has also been on tour with as a lead singer. 

An insider revealed: 'Nic loves performing and has been grafting in musical theatre for decades, but he has always been the swing player waiting in the wings and never the headline West End star.

' has opened doors for all kinds of stage talent and Nic stepping out of the shadows to show his singing to the world could be the moment to change his luck.'

A spokesperson told Daily Mail: 'Anyone can apply for Britain’s Got Talent whether they are professional or amateur, irrespective of their experience. 

'All contestants are auditioned on merit and judged on their performance on the day.

'Some of the acts appearing on the show may have tasted a level of success in their craft, but are not household names. All enter the contest with the hope of elevating their career to the highest level.'

Other viewers were impressed by Nic's performance and even called for him to get a golden buzzer. They wrote: 'Nic has a God given talent and is such a beautiful soul. Sometimes the golden buzzers peak far too soon. He really deserves one.'

'As a massive musical theatre fan i think Nic should of got the golden buzzer he was amazing!!'
