Ruby Tuesday Matthews has addressed her fans’ long-time fixation on her weight, revealing she typically sheds kilos when she’s under ‘extreme stress’.

The controversial influencer, 31, took to Instagram on Friday with a lengthy message slamming those who constantly say she is ‘too thin’.

Sharing images of her figure garbed in tiny shorts and a black tank top, the Byron Bay personality said she ‘cherishes’ her body and asked followers to ‘be gentle’ to themselves.

‘A little reminder to my new followers and everyone else to be kind and love yourself whatever stage you are at in life. I sure do and not in a vain way,’ she said.

‘My body has always been a topic of conversation—sometimes I’m deemed too thin; other times, praised for weight gain.

‘During each of my three pregnancies, my weight fluctuated similarly, with consistent patterns of water retention and gradual muscle tone recovery.’

Ruby shares children Rocket, five, Mars, four, and Holiday, one, with ex partner Ryan Heywood and current fiancé Shannan Dodd.

She went on to say that her frequent weight loss after child birth has nothing to do with ‘bouncing back’ and is ‘simply my body’s natural rhythm’.

‘While society emphasises body image, I cherish my body as the vessel that energises me,’ she added.

‘My priority is and will always be my mental health and well-being. something at times I struggle with.

‘In stressful times, without control due to extreme stress I lose weight, leading to criticism. I’ve become more reserved, lacking the energy for negativity, despite abundant positivity.

‘The past two years have been particularly challenging for my family and at times has physically reflected that.’

Ruby encouraged her followers to ‘stop comparing’ themselves to other people and ‘appreciate our unique bodies at every life stage’.

The influencer added that she feels at her best when she isn’t wearing makeup and her ‘head is at peace’.

She finished her lengthy post by asking her fans to ‘be gentle with themselves, embrace their current selves, and embrace whatever stage you may be in’.

Ruby was forced to share her daily eating habits last year following growing concerns from her followers about her health on Instagram.

Shedding light on her daily routine, Ruby mentioned in November 2023 that her day typically starts with a black coffee, as she’s not a big fan of breakfast.

Lunch is usually leftovers—’Today it will be fried rice,’ she shared—and dinner varies from nachos to steak, accompanied by healthy snacks like Greek yoghurt with fruit.

A significant part of her dietary approach involves cooking from scratch and choosing whole foods over processed items.

‘There’s so much hidden sugar in processed foods,’ she noted, advocating for homemade dressings and simple, natural ingredients.

Ruby also touched on her physical health, particularly during her pregnancies, where she maintained a consistent weight gain and post-birth recovery.

Addressing the concerns about her weight, Ruby clarified that her small build has been a lifelong trait, exacerbated by stress in recent years.

‘I seem to just, even though I’m eating completely normal, big amounts, um, I just lose weight, and I have no control over it,’ she confessed.

Ruby concluded her heartfelt explanation by affirming her confidence in her body and health.

‘I’m strong, I’m healthy, I have a great immune system,’ she declared, addressing those who might find her physique concerning or triggering.
