The plane departed J.F. Mitchell Airport in Bequia, an island in the Grenadines, en route to St. Lucia.
However, moments after take off, pilot Robert Sachs radioed the tower notifying them that the aircraft was experiencing difficulties and that he was turning back, the St. Vincent-based news outlet Searchlight reported.
Communication was soon lost before the plane nose dived and crashed into the waters of the Caribbean Sea around 12.11pm. Sachs also perished in the crash.
Some residents told the news outlet that they had seen a small plane plunging like a stone into the sea. Others expressed concern when they heard sounds coming from the aircraft moments before the horror crash, as per the news outlet
The fixed wing, single engine plane that was owned by Sachs went down between Bequia and the smaller island, Petit Nevis near the Southern community of La Pompe, Searchlight reported.
Some local fishermen who were at a nearby fisheries complex when the plane went down ran to help before members of the SVG Coast Guard arrived at the scene, officials said.
It was reported that the fishermen located the aircraft which is believed to have sunk approximately 70 feet in the ocean.
Two divers had recovered the bodies of the deceased that were transported to the mainland of Saint Vincent and taken to the Kingstown Mortuary where post-mortem examinations will be done to determine the causes of death.
