Legendary 1980s rock group Mötley Crüe have cancelled their Las Vegas residency just weeks before they were set to perform a string of shows.

The chart-topping American band were due to play at Park MGM on the city’s famous Strip between March 28 and April 19.

But the run of gigs will now begin on September 12 and end on October 3 after lead singer Vince Neil, 64, was told he needed a ‘medical procedure’.

In an emotional statement, the band member said: ‘To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring.

‘I’m truly sorry. My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage.

‘Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.’

Meanwhile, Mötley Crüe issued a joint message, reading: ‘Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery.

‘We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September.’

It comes just weeks after Vince’s private jet crashed into a parked plane, killing the pilot Joie Vitosky and seriously injuring the singer’s girlfriend.

The rocker was not on the plane when it collided into another aircraft at Scottsdale airport in Arizona, but it was carrying his partner Rain Hannah Andreani, 43, her friend Ashley and two pilots, including Joie.

The landing gear on the private jet appeared to have failed, sending it crashing into the other jet according to Kelli Kuester, aviation planning and outreach coordinator at Scottsdale Airport.

Another pilot and the two passengers aboard Vince’s plane were seriously injured, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) report said.

The band confirmed in a statement on X in February that the pilot was killed in the crash, and that they would be involved in the efforts to help the family.

‘Earlier today, a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ,’ the group behind hits such as Home Sweet Home, Wild Side and Without You said on the social media platform.

‘The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals.’

The group continued: ‘Vince was not on the plane. Vince’s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life-threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families about the pilot who lost his life in the passengers who suffered injuries.

‘Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot -stand by for an announcement very soon.’

The band have regularly hit the headlines since forming in 1981 and their drummer Tommy Lee’s tumultuous romance with former pinup Pamela Anderson made waves in the 90s.

In January, the actress, now 57, told SiriusXM: ‘I mean, we used to talk a lot more. Not recently, unfortunately, but you know, I wish we did have a better rapport right now.’

The pair married in 1995 four days after meeting, before going on to have two sons and divorcing in 1998.
