Carrying on as normal

Just days before their split was announced Ruth spoke about Eamonn’s health issue during an interview, seemingly implying they were still together.

During the chat she revealed her fears the GB News presenter ‘might never be 100 per cent right’ after undergoing back surgery due to suffering chronic back pain for almost two years.

Eamonn is still recovering from the surgery and an injury to his shoulder, which saw him take four months off work at the end of last year.

He has ongoing daily physio sessions and either uses a cane or wheelchair to get about, with the support of his wife Ruth.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: ‘I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.

‘He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.’

Ruth added: ‘I look at Eamonn, who’s had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.’

Avoiding questions

Another tell-tale sign was that they have not been spotted at an event together since  the TRIC Awards at London’s The Grosvenor House Hotel in July 2022.

More recently, Eamonn sent his fans into a frenzy when he shared a snap to Instagram with fellow TV star Linda Lusardi, 65.

He shared a sweet comparison photo of the pair of them 42 years apart.

Sharing the post to his grid, he penned: ‘1982 v 2024 and she hasn’t changed a bit . My wonderful, close friend Linda Lusardi who I went to see today 42yr friendship x’

This caused his fans to spiral in his comments as they asked the TV veteran where his wife was, only for the questions to go unanswered.

One wrote: ‘have Eamonn and Ruth split up? They’re never seen together these days.’

Others added: ‘Poor Ruth, where is she?’… ‘Where is Ruth?’

The presenter hosts a breakfast show with Isabel Webster, which sees them talk through the big news stories of the world.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: ‘Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words.

‘He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction.’
