Halle Berry gave fans their clearest look yet at her highly unconventional engagement ring on Monday night, and according to experts, the striking piece is anything but traditional.

The Oscar-winning actress and producer, 59, stepped out for Amazon MGM's live-streamed Crime 101 screening and Q&A at The Grove in Los Angeles, where she proudly flashed the dramatic vintage-style ring from her longtime love, Van Hunt, 55.
'Halle's engagement ring is a bold, highly individual piece that moves away from the traditional solitaire and instead embraces strong geometry and sculptural design,' jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia, founder of Abelini, exclusively told The Daily Mail.
'From the image, the ring appears to feature a substantial square or rectangular diamond cluster with a bezel-set center stone, surrounded by multiple smaller diamonds, all set in yellow gold. This gives the ring a modern, architectural presence that feels both luxurious and deeply personal.'
The unusual design immediately set Berry's ring apart from conventional celebrity engagement jewelry - and it comes with a hefty price tag to match.

'Based on the visible scale of the ring, the apparent quality of the stones, and the complexity of the bespoke setting, my professional valuation would place the ring in the region of $120,000 to $200,000,' Rakholia explains.

'This estimate reflects a likely center diamond in the 2 to 3 carat range, additional accent diamonds contributing meaningful total carat weight, and the craftsmanship required for a custom, non-standard design.'
According to Rakholia, the value goes far beyond the diamonds themselves.
'The value here is not just in the diamonds themselves but in the design,' he adds. 'Custom cluster engagement rings of this caliber command a premium due to the precision involved in setting multiple stones seamlessly and securely. The choice of yellow gold also adds to its appeal, as we are seeing renewed demand for warmer metals in high-end jewelry.'

He continued: 'What makes this ring particularly compelling is that it prioritizes personality over convention. It is not designed to follow trends but to make a statement — and that is increasingly what high-profile clients are seeking. From my perspective, this is a piece that balances artistry, luxury, and emotional significance, which is exactly what an engagement ring should do.'
Anya Walsh, jewellery expert at 77 Diamonds, added: 'What stands out is how personal the ring feels. This is Halle Berry’s fourth engagement, and the design reflects someone who knows her style completely.'
'Unlike classic sapphire engagement rings we’ve seen on figures like Gwyneth Paltrow or the Princess of Wales, this is something more in line with Berry's trendsetting style. It also echoes the wider shift we’re seeing towards statement, vintage-inspired rings - much like the renewed interest in old mine cut diamonds we’ve seen since Taylor Swift’s engagement,' Walsh explained.
Berry's public ring debut comes just days after she finally confirmed her engagement during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she addressed widespread speculation surrounding her proposal.
'Well, there's some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no,' Berry clarified. 'No, that's not the case. I did not say no. We just don't have a date.'

After a brief pause, she confirmed with a smile: 'But of course I said I would marry him! He did put a little ring on it.'
'Little,' however, is something of an understatement, given the sheer size and striking square-cut design of the statement piece.

Berry was referencing comments she made earlier this week to The Cut, where she revealed her fiancé proposed last June.
At the time, she admitted she hadn't immediately said yes, noting she would ultimately make an exception for 'health reasons' due to the legal access granted to spouses.
The couple was first set up during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020 by his brother, initially communicating only through texts and phone calls before finally meeting in person four months later.
After decades of intense scrutiny over her love life, Berry has been candid about how public narratives shaped her decision to protect her privacy.
'After my third divorce, people started to say, "What's wrong with her? She's crazy. She can't keep a man,"' she recalled. 'I pretty much stopped doing interviews for a decade because I got tired of the same old story.'

She added: 'It was always, "Poor Halle - unlucky in love again." And I would always argue, "Who says I want to keep a man if he's not the right man?" I'm in the best relationship I have ever had.'

The engagement will mark Berry's fourth walk down the aisle.
She divorced her first husband, former MLB star David Justice, in 1997 after three years of marriage.
Her second marriage to singer Eric Benét ended in 2005 after two years.

She later married actor Olivier Martinez, with whom she shares 12-year-old son Maceo.
The pair divorced after two years, and Berry reportedly pays $8,000 per month in child support.
She also shares daughter Nahla, nearly 18, with former partner Gabriel Aubry, following a prolonged custody battle.
Reflecting on her past relationships, Berry has said she came to realize she was attracting 'mirror images' of unresolved childhood trauma - something she confronted through deep emotional work.
'I realized I was just pulling in mirror images of myself - people who were broken, people with childhood wounds that weren't addressed,' she explained. 'I had to face the pain of what happened to me as a kid and release my secrets. I cried many a night.'
