Hailey Bieber's life change was permanently altered after a mini-stroke and subsequent heart surgery four years ago.

The 29-year-old Rhode founder revealed that the experience still makes her ‘nervous’ on Wednesday’s episode of Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast.
It's also made her more vigilant about staying on top of her health.
'That situation made me a little bit extra hyper-aware of my body and a little bit more nervous about things and staying on top of them,' Bieber said, adding that she's 'just always been really focused and fascinated on health.
'I just am so fascinated with the body and medicine and doctors, and I love it.'

In March 2022, Bieber, who recently gave fans a hint of her romantic Valentine's Day celebration with husband Justin, was hospitalized for a mini-stroke, also known as transient ischemic attack (TIA) and often a precursor to a major, life-threatening stroke. She then had a procedure called patent foramen ovale (PFO) to close a hole in her heart.

The supermodel was rushed to hospital in March 2022 where doctors confirmed that she suffered a mini-stroke, aka transient ischemic attack (TIA), which led to the discovery of a hole in her heart that required surgery
'A couple of years ago, I had a crazy medical situation. I had a mini stroke,' she recalled.
'Then I found that I had this heart defect that I was born with, so I had to get surgery for it, which sounds really crazy, but they went through my groin and I was in and out of the hospital the same day.'

The successful surgery and recovery put a creative fire under Bieber, who has a 17-month-old son, Jack Blues, with husband Justin, 31, and led her to create her Rhode makeup empire.
Meanwhile, the Better Man singer faced a terrifying health ordeal of his own in 2022 when he experienced partial facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which also caused hearing issues.
'It will go back to normal - it's just time and we don't know how much time it is going to be,' Justin told his Instagram followers in a video posted that June.
'But it is going to be ok I hope. And I trust God and I trust that this is all for a reason and... I am not sure what that is right now but in the meantime I am going to get rest.
'I'm doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal, and it will go back to normal,' he added.

The health emergency forced Bieber to cancel the remainder of his tour dates to focus on getting better. By 2024, he had regained mobility in his face.

Elsewhere in her podcast interview, Justin's wife offered a rare insight into their son Jack Blue's development, an unexpected turn since the Biebers have always been fiercely have been fiercely private about their son since his August 2024 birth.
She excitedly revealed that the toddler is starting to talk. 'So he talks a lot about basketball. He says basketball all the time,' Bieber said.
'I went to get him up from his nap today, and he was like "basketball." He's just. It's insane. So funny.'
She also shared she wants to expand the family, saying, 'I definitely do want one more [kid],' but stressed that she is 'not in a rush.'
