GQ’s second annual Global Creativity Awards, which celebrates the world’s most fearless and inspiring creatives, turned into a star-studded affair at the WSA Building in New York City.
Coming in fresh off the end of his run on Curb Your Enthusiasm, J.B. Smoove served as the host of the black tie awards gala.
Legendary filmmaker George Lucas and his wife and businesswoman Mellody Hobson were among the many high-profile people to be on hand to ledn their support.
Before heading inside for the ceremony, the couple made their way to the red carpet for a round or two of photos together, where they posed with their arms wrapped around each other.
Lucas, 79, stepped out in a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt and black sneakers, while also sporting a well-manicured full beard and mustache.

Hobson, 55, showed off her flare for fashion in a black three-piece suit with silver pinstripes that she matched with a white shirt with a black, white and silver collar.
She also donned a pair of shiny black shies, and had her raven tresses cut short and over her ears, styled in a pixie cut with a subtle part on the right.
In a perfect match to her suit and shirt collar, the former chairwoman of DreamWorks Animation carried a silver metallic purse that held her essentials.
Hobson has the distinction of being the first Black woman to be chairperson of an S&P company when she took over the job of chairperson of Starbuck Corp. in December 2020.
She’s also the president and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, which is one of the largest African American-owned money management and mutual fund companies in the U.S.
As for Lucas, he’s best known for being the brains behind two films that turned into two huge and culture-shifting franchises with Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
The couple, who met at a business conference in 2005, started dating the following year and were ultimately married at Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in June 2013.
The ceremony’s honored headliners were the publication’s April issue cover stars: Formula One race car driver Lewis Hamilton, Euphoria star and activist Hunter Schafer, Eastbound & Down funnyman Danny McBride, and rockstars turned Oscar-winning composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

This year’s event was dubbed a celebration of ‘Big Ideas For A Better World.’

Today, if you want to change the world, spread your wings wide.’
Smoove (born (Jerry Angelo Brooks), 58, arrived with his wife and actress Shahidah Omar, 47, on his arm and proceeded to share the spotlight of the red carpet together.
Some of the high-profile people to attend included Adam DeVine, Erykah Badu, Puma Sabti Curry, Taylor Rooks, Michaela Coel and boyfriend Spencer Hewett, Myha’la Herrold, Little Simz, Morgan Spector, Hillary Taymour, Mickalene Thomas, and Willy Chavarria, among others.
Along with honorees Hamilton, Schafer, McBride and Reznor and Ross, GQ’s Class of 2024 also recognized the contributions of multimedia artist Lauren Halsey, Marni’s surrealistic creative director Francesco Risso, and Afrobeats innovator Asake, according to GQ magazine.
