George Clooney has joked he’s been reduced to ‘plus-one’ status by his glamorous wife Amal.
The actor, 62, who has been married to Amal, 45, since 2014, said he’s become used to playing second fiddle to the barrister over recent years.
While he is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, George said he accepts his wife often steals the limelight whenever they’re on a red carpet together.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, George said: ‘My entire career has been reduced to a plus-one now.
‘I did one of those Women in Film things a couple years ago, and I had to introduce myself as ‘Amal Clooney’s husband’ because, honestly, I was dead otherwise.’

The actor – who has six-year-old twins Alexander and Ella with Amal – added of her stunning red carpet looks: ‘She cleans up. I’m always embarrassed because I’m wearing something that I’ve worn, like, 1,000 times.’
Clooney was a perpetual bachelor for years before he settled down with Amal Alamuddin, who met through a mutual friend in April 2013.
They tied the knot in September 2014, and the happy couple welcomed their twins in June 2017.
Clooney opened up about how having his kids changed the way he looks at the world now during a 2020 interview.
‘In marriage, and now with the kids, you give away the selfishness of only looking out for yourself,’ Clooney said.
‘It’s a wonderful thing. Amal and I talk about it every day. We feel so lucky,’ he added.
George has been busy promoting the sports drama The Boys In The Boat that he directed and also co-produced.
The film follows the University of Washington crew team that represented the United States at the 1936 Summer Olympic games in Berlin.

The film is scheduled to be released by Amazon MGM Studios in the United States on December 25.
It is the ninth film George has directed. His previous directing credits include the 2002 film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, the 2017 film Suburbicon, and the 2021 film The Tender Bar.
George can next be seen along with Brad Pitt in the upcoming psychological action film Wolves written and directed by Jon Watts.
Brad and George are also co-producers of Wolves, which follows two professional fixers who find themselves hired for the same job.
