Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire seems prepared to climb to the top of the box office.
The action adventure that pairs new crew members McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd with OG stars Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts, has already performed well as audiences turned out to see the new sci-fi adventure.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this latest adventure has already earned $4.7 million from Thursday previews and seemed set to earn an additional $16 million from Friday’s receipts.
Estimates were the weekend totals would come in between $41 million and $44 million.
The movie seemed to to dethrone Kung Fu Panda 4, which won the box office race for two weeks in a row.

The film received a tepid 43-percent from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences were much more welcoming of the latest addition to the franchise, giving it an 84-percent approval rating.
Frozen Empire is a sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, in which the Spengler family discovers their connection to the original Ghostbusters.
The film opened with earnings of $44 million and went on to make more than $204 million worldwide.
Frozen Empire follows the Spenglers as they go to New York to team up with the veterans.
The scientists have developed a top-secret research lab which allows them to take busting ghosts to the next level.
Trouble comes when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an army of ghosts that casts a death chill upon the city, and both generations much join forces to prevent the ghoulish big chill that could bring on a second Ice Age.
McKenna Grace, 17, who plays Phoebe in the films, spoke emotionally about the experience on social media Friday.

Finn Wolfhard, 21, who stars as Trevor, shared similar sentiments in his own post.
