This comes as a follower of 58-year-old Dando provided screenshots of an alleged message exchange with the musician in which she was sent unsolicited sexual videos which were reviewed by Tony Ortega's Substack The Underground Bunker.

Ortega reports that the woman had exchanged a few messages before Dando sent two videos of himself masturbating along with other images.

Daily Mail has reached out to Dando's representatives for comment and has yet to hear back.

Now, the musician's rep said that their client 'has long struggled with mental health issues dating back to his childhood,' in a statement provided to People on Friday.

'He's been admitted to a local hospital where he’s receiving comprehensive help from experienced doctors and mental health professional,' they added.

Ortega reported on Thursday that the anonymous woman had previously exchanged messages with Dando on X (formally Twitter), then more recently she congratulated him on the release of The Lemonheads album Love Chant which was released in October 2025.

The woman claimed that he did not respond for months until he replied 'Cool I'm sorry I'm an exhibitionist' on February 4.

She allegedly replied: 'Don’t ever apologize for being you, my friend. Always be unapologetic. And you.'

The fan then claimed that Dando had sent her a few messages including one asking if he could send her an 'art photo' which was followed by a video of himself masturbating.

The woman claimed that she wasn't sure how to 'process' the exchange so she waited for her husband to wake up.

However, it did not end there as the fan alleges that Dando sent her another video followed by two messages which read 'ok sorry thanks I just need an outlet' and 'cheers.'

The unidentified woman allegedly told Ortega: 'I've never felt anger like that. Don't call me an outlet, that's gross.'

Dando's wife Antonia Teixeira spoke to Billboard about the allegations as she told the publication that her husband has had period of heavy drinking and prescription drug abuse for several years before suffering a mental episode earlier this year and believes that he had relapsed earlier this month.

Teixeira told the trade publication that this was then he began exchanging sexual videos with numerous women on X including one who had the same name as the anonymous woman as she believes that Dando had confused the woman who made the accusation with another woman whom he was already receiving sexual videos from.

She told Billboard: 'He betrayed me … I’m very pissed, and I think that no women deserve to go through that, and I’m very sympathetic to that lady.

'He doesn’t remember what happened to start with … he was totally out of his mind.'

Teixeira - who married the musician in 2024 and lives with him in Brazil - also claims to have spoken to the woman who had made the allegation and apologized.

She also said that she gave him an ultimatum that if he doesn't complete the treatment, then she will file for divorce.

Last year Dando released a memoir - titled Rumors Of My Demise - where he candidly wrote about his mental health journey and heroin addiction.

'I was in horrible shape, losing teeth. And living off cheeseburgers — which I could barely chew — Marlboro Reds, purple Powerade (two for the price of one at Cumberland Farms), and a $200 daily drug budget,' he wrote according to Variety.

Dando is the only consistent member of Boston-based alternative rock band The Lemonheads which he founded in 1986 alongside Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz.

Their most successful single was a cover of Simon And Garfunkel's Mrs. Robinson which was released in 1992.

The band was active until 1997 before going on hiatus and then returned eight years later in 2005.
