After two years of significant delays, scheduling conflicts and the devastating loss of two cast members, the highly anticipated season three of is finally here.

But it seems the third season of 's teen drama series has not been a welcomed homecoming for some members of the in-demand cast, as rumors of on-set drama and creative differences with creator Sam Levinson have plagued much of the upcoming season.

That speculation was only furthered this week at the premiere, where interactions between actresses , and Alexa Demie appeared icier than years past.

Now, multiple insiders have laid bare how on-set tensions were triggered by Levinson's 'intense' directing style, as well as the two Euphoria stars who 'avoid each other' both on set and off it.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Euphoria season three on Tuesday, fans were quick to point out apparent friction between co-stars Zendaya and Sweeney on the red carpet.

Zendaya, 29, turned heads in a brown halterneck Ashi Studio gown, as she posed solo for cameras.

The highly anticipated third season of the HBO drama series comes following rumors of an alleged rift among some members of the cast

Zendaya was seen briefly greeting her other co-star Hunter Schafer and giving Levinson a hug, before she was rushed off the red carpet by her team. She notably didn't speak to gathered press.

For many, the quick exit served as further evidence that Zendaya has moved on from the Euphoria chapter of her career, especially as she's also juggling other promotional tours for big new movies The Drama and Dune: Part Three.

Meanwhile, Sweeney attended the Euphoria premiere with her boyfriend, controversial music manager Scooter Braun, wearing a draped white Pierre Cardin mini-dress.

The 28-year-old appeared friendly with her castmates Demie, Schafer and Maude Apatow as they posed together on the red carpet.

However, according to a source close to production, it wasn't all friendly behind the scenes. Between pay differences and lists of demands, Sweeney had developed somewhat of a 'difficult' reputation among cast and crew on the Euphoria set.

'Zendaya was definitely making more money than Sydney. Zendaya was the name coming on to the project and that wasn't easy for Sydney, especially since she's now a bigger name than she once was,' the production insider told the Daily Mail.

'Most crew love having Sydney on set and working with her. But cast, some do and some don't,' the source continued.

'When Sydney is on set, she definitely has a lot of demands as far as what she wants and needs to work, so that can be difficult for some,' they said.

Sydney Sweeney, 28, attended the Euphoria season three premiere on Tuesday. A source close to production told the Daily Mail that Sweeney developed a 'difficult' reputation on the Euphoria set

The source suggested that pay divisions between Zendaya and Sweeney played a role in their alleged rift

'Zendaya is very well liked and was a pleasure to have around set. She's a total professional and very down to Earth, very kind and appreciative.'

One of those cast members who would prefer not to work again with Sweeney, according to a second source who spoke to the Daily Mail, was none other than her on-screen BFF, Demie.

Despite their friendly interactions at the Euphoria premiere, the second source shared that there was no love lost between Sweeney, who portrays Cassie Howard in the show, and Demie, who plays Maddie Perez.

'If there were any issues with anyone, Alexa Demie and Sydney would avoid each other. And people could tell there was no love lost between them; they definitely don't like each other,' they said.

During the premiere, Sweeney interrupted Demie's red carpet interview to give her co-star a hug. The pair shared a few pleasantries and Sweeney told Demie, 35, she looked 'amazing.'

However, when a clip of their interaction went viral on social media, fans in the comments section described the moment as 'awkward' and 'fake'.

Later in the evening, at the Chateau Marmont after-party, Demie gushed over her friendship with her Euphoria co-stars Apatow, Schafer and Zendaya, though notably excluded Sweeney.

'I'm always giggly when I get together with Hunter, Maude, and Z,' she told Vogue.

Demie, 35, gushed over her friendship with co-stars Zendaya, Maude Apatow and Hunter Shafer (seen) in an interview with Vogue at the Euphoria premiere after-party

'When any of us get together, it's so special and fun. We know each other for so long now. We're family and it's pure fun to be with them. It's a relief when we see each other at events. They are like an anchor and make nights like tonight even more fun.'

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Zendaya, Sweeney and Demie for comment.

The supposed rift among the Euphoria cast comes following a disastrous press cycle for Sweeney.

The actress was at the last year when she starred in an ad for American Eagle. Sweeney also played coy when asked her thoughts about President Donald Trump.

Last July, Sweeney starred in a viral campaign for the brand's jeans, which provoked a social media meltdown as critics compared it to 'Nazi propaganda' for playing on the phrase 'good genes' with a blonde, blue-eyed star.

In the wake of the furor, reports emerged that Sweeney was a registered Republican in Florida, prompting howls of condemnation from left-leaning fans, while , 'Now I love her ad.'

When later asked about the controversy and Trump's praise, Sweeney reaffirmed her stance on staying apolitical in the public eye.

'I've never been here to talk about politics. I've always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of,' she told in January.

'And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn,' Sweeney said.

She later added, 'I'm not a political person. I'm in the arts. I'm not here to speak on politics. That's not an area I've ever even imagined getting into. It's not why I became who I am.'

But Zendaya isn't the only Euphoria star apparently distancing themselves from their fellow castmates.

Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs in the show, also attended the season three premiere on Tuesday.

Fresh off a press tour for his blockbuster film Wuthering Heights, and his critically acclaimed performance in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein that earned him an Academy Award nomination, Elordi has certainly kept his work schedule as busy as his former fling Zendaya.

Dressed in an all-black suit by Bottega Veneta, of which in 2024, Elordi posed for solo shots on the red carpet, and he was snapped hugging Apatow ahead of the premiere.

There has long been speculation of a rift between Elordi, 28, and Zendaya, ever since the pair were romantically linked following season one of Euphoria.

They sparked romance rumors when they were seen in August 2019, which were only furthered when they were in February 2020.

By spring 2020, their relationship seemingly fizzled, though he congratulated Zendaya on in September that year. The actress famously began dating Tom Holland, her Spider-Man co-star and rumored husband, the following year.

Despite their romantic past, the second source told the Daily Mail that Elordi and Zendaya kept their relationship 'professional' on set of Euphoria.

'Jacob and Zendaya were always professional with each other,' they said.

'Who knows if they would ever be lifelong friends, but they would work together again. If they see each other at an event or at the store, they will be gracious to each other, but their conversations would likely be about the weather and not get much more detailed than that.

'Jacob had great chemistry with everyone on set. He was well-liked and didn't cause much of problem,' they shared.

Holland even made the occasional appearance on set while filming Euphoria seasons two and three, the second source added, though there were no signs of drama among the trio.

'During season two, Tom was there quite a bit and occasionally during the third season too. Everyone had some fun talk about a cameo but it was never seriously considered,' they said.

'There were never tensions with him being there, as he was out of the way when he needed to be. Complete professional.'

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Elordi for comment.

Indeed, rumors of cast drama have shrouded much of the promotion for Euphoria's third, and likely final, season. But it is Zendaya's speculated feud with the show's creator and executive creator, Levinson, that has dominated conversations about a possible fourth season of Euphoria.

In 2024, an investigation by the Hollywood Reporter claimed that after he allegedly directed all his attention to another HBO project, The Idol, when the future for Euphoria's third season still hung in the balance.

The Idol, which aired in 2023, was ultimately panned by critics and even became the subject of a blistering Rolling Stone article that blasted the show's 'graphic' sex scenes as 'torture porn.'

Representatives for Zendaya and Levinson declined to comment to The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

The cast for Euphoria season three was finally confirmed in July 2024, and filming began in January 2025. However, Zendaya – who served as executive producer for the first two seasons – is reportedly not credited as a producer for the third season of Euphoria.

The second source all but confirmed Zendaya's rumored rift with Levinson when they described the filmmaker's 'intense' creative process.

A source told the Daily Mail that Levinson is 'very intense and meticulous,' which can 'rub people the wrong way'

'Sam rubs people the wrong way. He is very intense and meticulous. Not everyone runs that way on set, but Sam wants what he wants,' they told the Daily Mail.

'He is on his own time, his own wavelength and wants his story to be told by him and not take any notes or ideas from others.'

While a fourth season of Euphoria has yet to be confirmed by both Levinson and HBO, Zendaya seemingly took it upon herself to announce the show's ending during a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

When asked by host Drew Barrymore if season three will be Euphoria's final season, the actress replied, 'I think so.'

But at the premiere on Tuesday, Levinson appeared caught off guard when he was asked to confirm Zendaya's declaration that season three will be its last.

'I've written every season of Euphoria like it's the last season,' he told Entertainment Tonight. 'If this is our last season, I'm happy.'

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Levinson for comment.

Euphoria season three premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, April 12 at 9pm ET.
