Erin Doherty Wins Award, Goes Barefoot on Stage

Erin Doherty suffered a wardrobe blunder at the Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday night, as she lost her high heels as she made her way to the stage to accept the gong for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series.

The actress, 33, was honoured for her role as child psychologist Briony in the acclaimed  show Adolescence during the ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in .

But as she headed up to be presented the trophy by , both of Erin's towering stilettos slipped off her feet en route.

However, despite the unexpected Cinderella moment, she styled out the mishap with grace and a smile, scooping up her shoes and walking onstage barefoot.

 star poked fun at her misfortune afterwards, as she posed proudly with her award held aloft in one hand and her heels in the other.

And it didn't appear to have put a dampener on her her evening, with the British star looking on cloud nine to have received the honour.

While Erin looked the epitome of glamour at the ceremony, sporting a voluminous black gown that draped across her shoulders and to her wrists.

Slicking her locks in her signature low-do, she added a pop of colour to the monochrome look with a classic red lip and matching pendant earrings. 

The Independent Spirit Award is just the latest award that Erin has picked up for her incredible performance in the gripping Netflix hit.

She also came out on top at last year's Emmys, and scooped both the Critics Choice Award and Golden Globe last month, while she is on course to win the SAG Award in March too.

And as it has all awards season long, Adolescence cleaned up once again on Sunday night, with the show winning Best New Scripted Series, while Erin's co-stars Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham won Best Breakthrough Performance and Best Lead Performance respectively.

The Independent Spirit Awards were hosted by  star Ego Nwodim and Honorary Chair filmmaker Lulu Wang.

Like at the Grammy's earlier this month, the stars took the opportunity to speak out against the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump administration's hardline immigration policies during the ceremony.

Many celebs, including such as Tessa Thompson, Kumail Nanjiani, and Natasha Rothwell, sported 'ICE OUT' pins in protest of the controversial agency after the murders of Keith Porter, Renée Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of its agents.

In the film categories, Train Dreams won the top award for Best Feature, as well as Best Director for Clint Bentley and Best Cinematography for Adolpho Veloso.
