According to the Melbourne hospitality worker, he and his teammate Nick were left pleasantly surprised when Manu approached them in a behind-the-scenes moment.

In an interview with 7Life, Christian said he was ‘caught off guard’ by the judge’s kindness and generosity.

On Tuesday night, Christian and Nick are set to face off against NSW twins Radha and Prabha in the highly anticipated grand final, marking the climax of a tense and weeks-long competition.

They hold a special memory close to their hearts, a moment that wasn’t captured on TV screens.

‘You know, Nick and I were struggling a bit with self-belief throughout – but especially the second round of Instant Restaurants,’ Christian explained.

‘And Manu had a moment in the kitchen where he kind of just stopped what we were doing, put an arm around us and just looked at us and went, “You two need to start believing in yourselves. Because we believe in you, you should believe in yourselves.”‘

Christian then explained that the team felt emotional and decided to start cooking before they burst into tears.

‘It made those harder moments a little more bearable,’ the hospitality worker confessed.

After they had secured a spot in the final round, Manu told Christian that he had fulfilled his commitment to stay in the competition until the very end.

‘Christian, you said you weren’t going home, didn’t you?’ said Manu.

‘We’re not going to let this opportunity go to waste,’ Nick answered.
