Drew Barrymore is no stranger to leaving viewers cringing at her bizarre interview techniques.

But the TV presenter was left red faced herself when her dog Douglas caused pandemonium during her interview with Jeremy Brenner – after he got ‘extremely turned on.’

Drew, 49, was talking to the Mayor of Kingstown actor, 53, on her show on Tuesday morning when her excited canine started aggressively wagging his tail and vying for the guest’s attention.

In a desperate attempt to cool the situation, Drew said: ‘I think Douglas is getting really excited, so we’re just gonna…’

Jeremy, however, was totally unfazed by Douglas’s enthusiasm and jokingly asked: ‘Is it my cologne buddy?’

‘Out of nowhere Douglas gets extremely turned on,’ Drew admitted, adding: ‘It’s a compliment – but it’s super awkward.

‘There’s nothing like when your child embarrasses you.’

Noticing Drew’s mortification, Jeremy leaned in and offered her a hug and then gave her a sweet kiss on her forehead.

Douglas is a mainstay on the CBS talk show – and is often seen lounging on the sofa while Drew interviews her guests.

Before the interview was disrupted, the Hollywood star opened up about how he spent a decade trying to overcome his fears, as well as how he learned the importance of conscious breath – which helped him to recover from the snow plow accident which almost killed him.

On New Year’s Day in 2023, the Marvel star was plowing snow around his neighborhood in Mount Rose, Nevada when he stopped to help a family member whose car was stuck.

His 14,000-lb industrial vehicle ran him over, breaking more than 30 of his bones and leaving him with a collapsed lung.

‘I identified a lot of things I was afraid of, like sharks, intimacy, success, a lot of things,’ he said.

‘You practice not giving it really any power, identifying what they are. And, by addressing it every day, I found that the only thing that was afraid of is the unknown.

‘This was actually very important for me to get through the accident I had. If I would have been afraid of my next breath or panicked, I wouldn’t be here right now.

‘There was a great sense of body awareness that I had, so I could focus without fear on my next breath and blowing out and inhaling.’

Animal lover Drew is mom to two dogs, four cats, a bearded dragon, a fish and a snake named Cecil.

In March, she revealed in an interview with Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brow, 20, that her golden retriever Lucy had died, aged 11.

At the time, Drew said: ‘Douglas is having a little bit of a hard time getting on too’, before going on to add, ‘Well, his girlfriend Lucy who is 11 just passed away last week and it has been so hard.’
